Self-assurance is a vital and healthy trait. But since these are external influences, egotism and hubris can quickly replace it. Being a strong athlete or having large muscles is not the only way to have healthy self-confidence; other factors include versatility, the capacity to give and receive, and contentment with what you have.

It is a relevant point that there are two paths explained here; The idea that, on one path, to become world class at something you would need to hone in with laser-like precision. Ignoring or removing those elements of your life that are not in alignment with your singular goal. This singular mastery can open up understanding of all things through its example. Or the other path; you seek to become a generalist, comfortable with many disciplines that further the goal of trying to live an interesting or fulfilling life. These many disciplines have an underlying theme, a foundational connection. This connection mirrors the connectedness of all things. The only essential element to both is action, and the removal of its impediments.

Another book to read, for learning and to apply to everything, is Get Better at Anything by Scott H Young. There are a few books that i might missed, but what the video and the other comment on Bruce thornwood, has intersecting points …. Copy, learning break it down, allow focused time and goals slowly And the confidence , is from learning how to avoid failures after going through them. If you got that one hit win in mma, or the one big deal… but no idea how and why, it’s pure luck ….

Totally agree about the idea of baby steps. Whatever the goal is, start small and keep doing until you get bored of that step. Naturally you’ll want to challenge yourself more and move on to the next level. But keep taking small steps to always still feel comfortable in order to not get discouraged. At the end of the day, it’s about enjoying the process and having fun! It’s not about becoming something. It’s about discovering yourself and being bored and experimenting. All this reinvention happens naturally through boredom and curiosity.

The missing part of this, that is the difference between making the transformation or it drifting back into mediocrity.... Is being extremely committed to doing the work you laid out in the plan. And the ability to tweak the plan/work when you find out part of it doesn't work, whether through self review or better yet a coach like Danaher. People get excited by things like this, but grinding out the work for half a decade is not something most are prepared to do. If you can though the results will amaze you!
@vincentng1781Ай бұрын
Danaher’s point about rolling with a variety of belt levels (esp. lower belts) is not related to Vygotsky’s ZoPD. Your take on the ZoPD is also incorrect.
@blondequijoteАй бұрын
Oh wise professor of the comment section, please deign to meet us where we are and tell us laypeople why op and danaher are wrong about the zone of proximal development. Sounds like they don't know what the proximal part entails when they advise ppl to roll across belt levels.
@vincentng1781Ай бұрын
@@blondequijote Well for starters you should learn reading comprehension. I didn’t say Danaher was wrong about ZPD because he never says that it is related to ZPD; the video claims that Danaher’s point is. Then the video gets the ZPD wrong in trying to accommodate Danaher’s point into an explanation from science.

I have to disagree on the first statement, positive affirmations / motivational speech do build confidence to try again with a different mindset, we spend a long time doing inner talk in our days, analyzing and talking to ourselves about different things but also our capacity to go at some things, and the vast majority of people are negative and anticipate the worse before doing something, if you can spot these limiting talks and belief and change them to positive ( like Connor Mc Gregor , Muhammad Ali, Kipchoge and lots of other greats ) then you will build confidence, building confidence by action isn’t something you can achieve all the times, let’s say you lose a competition you got to have the right mindset to get back up and try again until you make it, so mindfulness and positivity is something you build, personally Positive affirmations / gratitude / self love and external love has helped me tremendously, so I find him pretty biased.
@awarriorphilosophy2 ай бұрын
I agree thinking positively is definitely helpful, especially after a big loss, for me the trouble comes when I rely on affirmations rather than action. Just what’s worked for me
@ToraSan2 ай бұрын
@@awarriorphilosophy yes i get you ! But words lead to actions, it’s fuel to steps of your goals, when you say something to yourself like : I’m weak, how do you feel ? Interesting thoughts JoeRogansForehead
@JoeRogansForehead4 күн бұрын
@ it’s true. Once you work on yourself and aren’t chasing woman , they will notice that. They will notice you are confident in what you could bring to the table in a potential relationship and don’t HAVE to chase woman because you know in your heart that you are a catch and woman will eventually come. Woman can also tell if you are confident enough where your okay with being on your own. These are things you can try and fake but it will never come off as true confidence and being content with yourself . Chasing woman because your not okay with being on your own and think you need to have a girlfriend is the easiest way to make sure you never get a girl. Or a girl who would make a good partner, no girl who would be a great wife or girlfriend is just gonna give themselves to the guy chasing them.
