Great video - I personally found this information more readily available online, although not as clearly explained, however, I’m still searching for a fix to re-link compound link that exist in the browser but not in the timeline. The same error message screen appears but with a large ‘T’ and an exclamation mark. I would be truest impressed and grateful if you guys came up with a fix for that 😉

A red T may be relating to a plug-in missing media issue, right? We have a help page here about this issue: store.pixelfilmstudios.com/red-screen-error/

The cavalry, the fixer, and the friend PFS has it all when it comes to FCPX. Guys, I wish I had seen your video several days before - FCP rendering my first video files blew up my storage with as result freezing FCP and my Mac. I've exported all source files to an external disk and got my timeline intact, but now FCP tells me that my project files are SDR! What should I do?
@brianortega81912 жыл бұрын
Hi @pixelsfilmstudios, what if I just get a black screen after deleting rendering files?
@pixelfilmstudios2 жыл бұрын
You may need to re-render the timeline by selecting the timeline and using Control + R. If that doesn't help, you may need to reach out to Apple Support to figure out what happened to the project. 🧐

Does not seem to work if you move a FCPx library to another drive. When opening the FCPx library at it's new drive location in FCPx the files are listed as "Missing File" in red. Looking inside the same library's fcpbundle, the video clips FCPx thinks are missing are still in the .../Transcoded Media/Proxy Media folder. The instructions in this tutorial do not relink the "missing files" for me. I would guess getting the red "missing file" error is a pretty common occurrence if you copy an old FCP library to another drive for archiving. So why doesn't this tutorial cover that use case ? ... or am I missing something ?
@pixelfilmstudios2 жыл бұрын
If you need to move the library to an external drive, then you should consolidate the media with the project first to prevent this issue from happening in the first place. We have a video on that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rp3cfIulhp2AipI

Hey my friend! What if the missing files are on multiple SD cards? My videos aren't saved to my computer
@pixelfilmstudios2 жыл бұрын
You would ideally want all of your files for a project to be located on an external drive or a folder in the computer itself rather than have them all on separate SD Cards. Since you wouldn't be able to plugin multiple SD cards at the same time while you're working, this could easily cause missing clips. After they are all in 1 consistent location and relinked, you could consolidate the media to your project library. We have a video about consolidating here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rp3cfIulhp2AipI

Several other online tutorials say that you can "File>Relink Project Files" if you only want to relink for a specific project but NOT for all projects in that library. That's what I want to do. But that seems no longer to be an option. Anyone know a way to relink for only one specific instance of a file within one project without it relinking for EVERY instance of that file in all the other projects, too? I'm in FCPX 10.5.4
@pixelfilmstudios Жыл бұрын
Hey there Allen, this apple help page should have more information about this topic. It looks like it should still be possible to do this for a specific project: support.apple.com/guide/final-cut-pro/relink-clips-to-media-files-ver26f5c8c9/mac
@allensimpsoncomposer Жыл бұрын
@@pixelfilmstudios Yeah, unfortunately, that page just describes how to create the very problem I'm having, i.e., relinking changes it for EVERY instance of that file. HOWEVER!!!... I figured it out. Even though relinking does change every instance of that file, it only changes it *for that library. SO I was able to create a workaround by making a new library for each instance of the sequence I wanted relinks in. Then I was able to drag those newly created events from the new libraries into the original library. And it all worked like a charm!

And if I applied effects to the file that now is missing, they’ll remain, right?
@pixelfilmstudios2 жыл бұрын
Yes :) As long as the clip is relinked properly and you didn't delete it from the timeline the effects you applied should remain.

The clip would have to be manually placed in each section- there's not a faster way to do this that we are aware of. 😔

@pixelfilmstudios2 жыл бұрын
That would be a different process depending on the plugin provider that made the missing Titles or Generators etc. We would recommend to reach out to the developer who made those assets and look at their help pages or contact their help desk for more information.
