and what happens when you scratch the bed by accident? Just take 50% alcohol and 50% water in a spray bottle, spray the bed around the print and wait 10 seconds. It should lift off without any tension at all. Then take a clean towel and wipe the whole bed clean with the remaining liquid and pristine bed and pristine model. Seriously folks do not scrape your bed. Sorry Mr Volt but I see many accidents happening with this method.

To each their own. I've printed and removed hundreds of pieces this way without issue. I'll have to try your alcohol way soon

Does the alcohol (isopropyl I guess?) weakens the PLA plastic?

Actually, What worked quicker, is I used the sharp corner of the scraper while tapping with another scraper. 4 or 5 taps that was it.

I use PLA on glass with hairspray. Let the bed cool and it pops right off. With ABS I used my monster maul, but that will only work once and you have to buy a new printer.

I actually heat my bed to 100 C and then using the scraper (yes, the same :) ) i stick it once slanted face down at 45 degrees in between the bed (tape) and part. And slowly apply a twist force progressively increasing as i hear the tape and part release. It hasn't failed me so far regardless of adhesion method (double face tape 3M or generic, tube glue, or just tape) and i've printed some pretty big stuff. Biggest so far was the South Pointing Chariot by brlaw, where i have redesigned the wheels (two halves and a more realistic look) and increased the surface to 100% of my CR-10's printing capacity. Same technique, popped on its own once i went around the perimeter once. But that's my experience on the current machine the CR-10.

put it in the freezer. I had a really really stuck piece that even with the bed off I couldn't pull it off. There was no scraping that piece off. I popped it in the freezer (whole bed) and 10 minutes later came back to the piece already popped off.

I even remove my bed from the freezer and the parts are still as if I used epoxy instead of PLA. Hate the glue stick, but if I don't use it, parts don't stick, even if heating the bed to 60 degrees. At this point I will buy a flexible bed.
