Hi great video, I am in the process of replacing the transfer case actuator. I bought a used transfer case with it. I see you were able to pull the gear off easily. the gear is jammed in and its hard to pry off. Any tricks to getting it off. I wanted to ask the question off line. But I hope you can give me some advise . Thanks Frank

Go to 1:50 and you’ll notice I rotated the actuator left and right gently and let the magnet do the pulling.

got it I have the bolts removed and when I twist it the gear moves on the shaft. It's about 50% out, something is binding. Since this case is outside the truck I have been trying a pick tool with not so much luck. But I will trying rocking it back and forth to see that the gears are not binding. @@twinturboranch454

@twinturboranch454 I'm looking at a 3rd Gen 4Runner and the guy said he pulled his buddy out of a ditch, and after that, it won't go back into 4x4 mode. Other than that, the frame is practically rust free.

@@sierra-legacyavila if it has an actuator it may have suffered physical damage, maybe. Mine was water intrusion. Some 4Runners don’t have actuator on transfer case if it’s has a manual shifter aka J-shift. Mine isn’t a j-shift, it’s an i-shift. Mine is electronic for 2/4hi and a combination of both electronic and manual for 4Lo. J-shift is 100% manual. Some exceptions apply to newer ones with multi-mode transfer case.

@@sierra-legacyavila I read your comment wrong. I thought the 4Runner fell on the ditch and now doesn’t work. If the 4Runner pulled someone out of the ditch there are too many variables that can cause failure. Most of them I would blame the driver.
