Dear Mr Summit, does Hireko plan to release more SK Fiber shafts in the future (2022 and so on)????

I have this issue. *But* there's some type of pin inside of the broken shaft within the head. This is a 2013 Callaway X-HOT 8-iron, if that helps? What's my next step? P.S. Looks like a brass pin or weight.

How does your technique change when there is a lead weight in the club head/shaft?

You'll need to remove that starting with the small drill bit (1/8") and gradually work your way up in size. Lead is soft and will come out relatively easy. An epoxy core would be a little tougher and the toughest would be a tungsten weight. When there is no shaft above the hosel or enough to grab that you can use a shaft puller, this method is your only option if you want re-shaft.

I usually use a heat gun before drilling. Also I usually have a much harder drilling out the broken shaft.

Step drilling should really help with drilling out the broken piece.

What do you mean by step drilling?

Start with a small drill bit, then go to a slightly larger drill bit and keep increasing in size until you are done. If you try to drill it all out at once, then it just compacts into the hosel and makes it very hard to drill the shaft out.

Jeff is the use of a heat source a bad idea all together? I have always used a heat gun thinking that it helps.

So before I can repair my broken club, I need to buy a clamp, a pair of special made wood things, a funny looking drill bit, a power drill. Right!
