What happens if patient decided no to move forward with surgical removal?… some of these tumors have been there for years….
@cardiacsurgerypatienteduca244513 күн бұрын
This is a great question and also very loaded. You are correct the tumors often have been present for years. As a surgeon, you have to carefully remove them. These are tough decisions that require lots of discussion. I would speak with a cardiac surgeon and an oncologist before making a decision. Good Luck!

Thank you for your very informative description of myxoma. I have one in my LA & will have surgery soon. I have had all of the preop tests completed & my coronary arteries are clean-calcium score=zero. In comparison, is removing a myxoma more of an intensive or delicate procedure compared to coronary bypass surgery? I am thinking yes. I was already told I will be in ICU for 5 days. Any thoughts? Thank you for your informative videos.❤

I apologize for the delay in responding. Removing a myxoma can be described as a more delicate procedure. However, both procedures require careful techniques but since the myxoma removal requires opening the atrium and resection of the mass it could be described as more delicate. Whatever procedure is done, requires attention to detail. Good Luck.

Thank you for this video. I am trying to learn and understand. A right atrial mass was found during my echocardiogram at the end of Dec. measured 2. by 2.9 cm. My ascending aorta is ecstatic. I am waiting for a follow up appt and I am anxious and scared not knowing yet what approach should be taken. I am 64 years old and female. If you can tell me anything to ease my mind it would be appreciated.

Hi, I apologize for the delay in responding. First, please try to relax. In this situation, the first thing I want to tell you is that you have to get a diagnosis. I think you have to get more information. The mass could be many things however, the success in removing it is very good. I would try to get a diagnosis as soon as possible then talk to your doctors. Second, an ectatic aorta is essentially just enlarged. It doesn't require treatment. The success rate for removing a atrial mass is very high. Please make sure you research your surgeon. Good luck.

How soon after diagnosis of a cardiac tumor ( I.e. a papillary fibroelastoma ) should surgery generally take place?
@cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445 Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay in responding. There are no emergency surgeries for cardiac tumors UNLESS the tumor is compressing the heart or leading to strokes or something to that consequence. There are a lot of variables that determine when a surgery should take place after the diagnosis. For example, (1) size of the tumor, (2) location, (3) whether there are symptoms or signs of the tumor, (4) Benign or Malignant types. PLEASE speak to your medical professionals. Good Luck.

Hi Sir; With a big excuses. I had a LA Myxoma in my heart that a doctor by the name of Dr.Khaibar surgeried me for about six months ago now i have a pin in the erase of my surgery place the question that I have is would you tell me if the LA Myxoma or heart tomor can grow again
@cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445 Жыл бұрын
I apologize for the delay in responding. Respectfully, I'm not sure if I understand your question, but if you are asking if the myxoma, can grow back, then the answer is yes. If there is residual tumor left behind it will grow larger.

I apologize for the delay in responding. After surgery, the outcome of patients have many potential outcomes. It depends on the personal risk factors and extent of the tumor in each patient.
