Thank you for a great video. 2009 Prius, just removed the instrument cluster this afternoon, I had ordered a used cluster off EBAY. Used your video as a step by step guide, I like you took your time so viewers can keep up. When I got ready to remove cluster, drivers side popped right out, had some difficulty with passenger side, watched that part closely and once I removed the 2 lower bolts to the airbag, came right out. Will be checking your website to send the board for repair. Awesome!!!.

Thank you for the video. If you get a long set of needle nose, and reach in behind pillars, twist those catches near the airbags 90 degrees, they pop right out. And yes those dash pieces are brittle as hell!

Thank you for your informative video but now I have a question...I've had this problem you described in your video for quite a while now...But the other day while I was doing my mail route (I'm a rural carrier for the USPS) all of a sudden, my car died. I didn't even realize it until I tried to leave a mailbox. When I hit the power button to restart it, I just hear a couple relays click under the dash and that's it...Could this be related to the same component and have you seen this happen before if the problem is left untreated or do you think it's a different issue?

Thank you for your informative video. I recently imported a Toyota Prius hybrid, 2016 model from Japan to the UK. I need to change the kmh to mph on the cluster display so it conforms with the UK requirement. For this Prius pressing the “trip” option on the steering doesn’t help, so I’m assuming that the cluster needs to be removed and perhaps reprogrammed? Do you have any idea to switch from kmh to mph? Hello Mars, 1: PARK ON A LEVEL SURFACE!!!! If you are on a slope you will reset the sensor to an incorrect level!!Step 2: Press the ODO/trip button to turn the odometer to trip AStep 3: Turn off the ignition and set the parking brake.Step 4: DO NOT STEP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL! AT ALL! IT ISN"T NEEDED FOR THIS PROCEDURE!!Step 5: Press and hold the ODO/trip button and press the Power button twice.Step 6: Release and press the ODO/trip button three timesRelease-Press-Release-Press-Release-Press and HOLD.The Odometer on the combo meter should now be showing the normal mileage, as you hold the ODO/trip button down, the reading should change. Something along the lines of 650D0 or similar. The actual figures don't reallymatter.Step 7: Release and press the ODO/trip botton once more and HOLD it in. The figure will change again. This time, only ONE digit will change. 650D0>65010 as an example.This procedure is for prius gen II mine is a 2009. Thank you Renato

Obviously you should get it fixed. But if you have been going into the trunk that's a pain because if you are having the problem you can't get into the trunk. So you have to open the passenger rear seat and climb in. Much better is this simple four step process and you won't have to leave your driver's seat. Do it quickly but no need to rush. 1. Open the drivers door. 2. Push the start button one time. 3. Turn on the hazard light and the headlight. 4. Push down on the brake and press the start button as normal. Your display will come back on and all your functions like getting into your trunk will be restored. This is not a permanent fix but it can keep you going for a while. It works most of the time but if you have been driving a lot sometimes it wont. But it will later when the car has cooled down.

I think you are talking about the air vent that have the parking boton on it correct? if it is you will need to remove the far left vent and the cover that holds the power boton and the cover that goes under the stearing wheel. thank you Renato

I'm trying to imagine getting pulled over for speeding with the entire dash dismantled. I would love to see the expression on the cop's face when he peers into the car and sees the dismantled dash and hanging wires, "What did you do boy?! Hotwire this car?!" Then I reply, "No-Sir, It's just a $2.00 capacitor I'm having repaired because the original one is underpowered". It would be reminiscent of the movie "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" after the rental car caught on fire and then getting pulled over for speeding because they didn't have a working speedometer. I'll just use "Waze" for my speedometer and make sure my gas tank is full!

@@jeremyluke8022 you’ll prolly never have a fuel pump issue by keeping your tank topped off. The vast majority of fuel pump failures usually can be blamed on the owner running out of gas multiple times. The gas gauge on my Prius cannot be trusted below 1/4 of a tank, so I fill up before that time. The two times it ran out of gas, the gauge showed two bars. It was also the worst two places anyone could imagine when it happened - on the interstate miles from an exit. Lesson learned!

Hello, to replace the ECU do not require remove the dash board you will need to remove the glove compartment and the right side vent there is not to mutch room for tools but it is not hard make sure you do not pull the plugs by the wire to not damage it and you probabily will need to reprogram it and make sure you are removing the correct one i see a lot of people taking the hybrid control module instead they are both at the same location bolt in tougether good luck any question feel free to contact me Thank you Renato

My cruise control isn't working and a warning light indicator has been on for years without there being anything wrong, two things that could both be due to the ECU. I tried replacing the half for the cruise control, but that didn't work. The way I see it, given that two things have already gone wrong, it's only a matter of time until something else goes wrong with the car, and the repair costs then could be even worse. I think it's best that I replace the ECU. If you think there's something else wrong, e.g. the wiring, let me know.

hello Tino , We do know exactly all the components to be replace some people are change a capacitor (same mistake as people are saying before to replace the 12volt battery it will come back) but it not going to take care the whole problem because when the first part goes bad it opens the circuit and compromise others that's why it keeps adding problems like hard time to turn of the vehicle , not able to open the trunk , back up camera inoperative , tail light , and etc. so the way we rebuild no matters what stage the board is we replace all parts that failed plus that ones we know that enventualy will fail and also we upgrade the parts this way it wont fail again Thank you Renato House of Hybrids [phone]

Great Video!, I did everything and it works but i now have an air bag light. From what i recall, there was 1 airbag plug (yellow) we disconnected. I double check connection it was fully seated. I went into diagnose screen by connecting pin 4 and 13 on the OBDii. there was some BS code that did not involve air bags. I cleared it anyways . it did not clear red air bag light. Anyone have same issue? Can anyone assist ?
