That's a great tip. I sometimes hide my initials in my artwork, but if it's hidden, then it's not really protecting anything.

I'm here to remove my own watermark. I put a watermark on a photo, then accidentally deleted the phot without the watermark and now I can't use my own photo in my other design work. LOL I would never remove someone else's watermark to steal their work.

and i need the watermark off my school photo. they want me to pay 17.5£ for a digital photo. And you are telling me to do not be a jerk, those guys are jerks for making it expensive they deserve it
@aaronrutten5 жыл бұрын
While I can agree that it's lame to have to pay for something you feel is overpriced, you should also consider the point of view of the person who is providing you with a service. The photographer needs to make money to keep his job, so there are reasons why they charge for digital copies. I personally get annoyed too when I have to pay for digital copies, but I also have done photography work, so I understand why and respect that pricing structure.

I really hope no one actually uses this technique because photo theft is a thing, and when you steal photos from other people, removing their watermarks, its wrong. As a photographer, I know how this feels. Dont be jerks. We photographers go through a lot of work to produce really nice pictures. If you want really nice pictures, go spend a couple days on it like we do

Dumb question, but do people really publish their watermarks online? By this, I guess I'm asking if they publish it raw like a transparent .png. If so, why? Couldn't that allow people to stamp your watermark on th9nhs you didn't draw like troll art to ruin someone's reputation?
@aaronrutten6 жыл бұрын
It's not that artists publish their watermarks, it's that artists often use their logo as a watermark. They aren't publishing their logos per se, but when you upload your logo to be displayed as part of your website, the individual logo file can be downloaded easily. Even if the logo/watermark isn't available online, it's not terribly difficult to recreate one by tracing over it in a vector application. You can get transparent PNGS of just about any famous logo if you search online. I'm sure most of them were replicated by a third party. I've not heard of anyone using another artist's logo to be a troll, but it could be a possibility. I would imagine that the consequences of impersonation could be pretty harsh. Plus anyone who is even remotely famous has their own account, so if the artwork were posted by a different username, it would be obvious that it were a fake. The original source image could easily be reverse-image searched to figure out who the original author was.

I just don't see the point in using watermarks. I've never bothered .
@yanyanyan252 жыл бұрын
How about creating a checkered black and white logo and use it as a watermark? then never upload the that checkered logo anywhere. if they darken the lighter part of the watermark, the dark parts will become darker.
@nahalitet111111111114 жыл бұрын
The big watermark can be seen on the blacks of the body of the dragon though. For a fast fix it is okay, but you can definitely do a better job on making it flawlessly... EDIT: A better tip I would suggest is to leave a very small watermark somewhere in the picture, where it is noticeable only if you zoom a lot. My father uses this method and honestly, there is no way to tell, unless you know where exactly the watermark is positioned

I was thinking about using blending modes to remove watermarks. Also, you could probably create a script that could find and recreate a watermark. Or you might even be able to use the RGB layers or even the curves tool to make the watermark more visible and recreate it yourself. There's really no way to stop people from stealing art, no matter what, but you can make it easy to prove that someone stole it. The best way to protect your art is by adding in things that only you know about. Little consistent designs in your art, for instance, that people won't notice. That way you can always point to one of those designs to prove that the art is yours.

Aaron Rutten This is true, but why add another source of this info. You already enlightened a responder about not knowing one method. Its sad to go with that style of thinking. "Here, let me show you the different ways in how to break into a car, but dont do it as its not legal" Same principal. Those principals, and ethics are so lost these days.
@aaronrutten6 жыл бұрын
We can agree to disagree. I think most people are going to understand the value of this video because it shows that watermarks are completely ineffective. I'm saving people the hassle of finding that out the hard way. My video also points out, in the very beginning, that it's just as useless to remove a watermark because the copyright holder can easily reverse-image search to find violators.
@Bryster516 жыл бұрын
Aaron Rutten Agreed, watched the whole thing. Keep up your good work!
