Video of me taking out an old GE overhead microwave oven. I'm going to replace it with either a new microwave, or possibly just a vented hood. I wanted to take out this appliance because it was an eyesore, and the most outdated appliance in the kitchen

Your video is the 1st one I've seen that actually shows all the possible screws and nuts beyond the two main top ones. All of those "expert videos" mention it as a possibility but never show any. So, thanks for actually showing everything!

Thank you so much. We have the exact same microwave, which started smoking so we decided it might time to get a new one. It took us longer than 8 minutes, but it was great to have the step by step video and follow your lead. We're now ready to have a brand new one installed.

Thank you so much for sharing this video. I had an old GE Spacemaker microwave to remove but I couldn't figure out how it came out until I watched your video. I thought they all pivoted down like I'd seen in other videos. Your video saved me! After watching your video, I successfully removed my old GE Spacemaker Model JVM64004 and installed a new one. I spent several hours trying to figure out how to remove that old microwave and it was so simple after watching your video. Thanks again and keep up the great videos!

I was working for GE when I purchased this exact model in 1978, the first year they were introduced. Microwaves where new to the market then and folks would marvel at there efficiency. The dealer even offered free cooking classes upon purchase. Other than the noise from a loose exhaust fan blade, mine was working just fine until just recently when the magnetron started humming (11/2018). It's a shame GE no longer builds them to last 40 years. Thanks for the video.

This video really saved us. We had an even older model, but once we saw how you had to remove a bunch of visible screws, we removed em all and ours came out similarly.

This was extremely helpful for me also. I watched this video, then removed my microwave in 20 minutes. My old OTR microwave was a Tappan Spacesaver, but a service technician once noted that GE manufactured it. My installation had one additional assembly on top with a charcoal filter for venting to the room. There were 4 additional screws going through the bottom of the overhead cabinet into the room vent assembly. Other than that, my installation was identical. Thank you!

Hi, since I haven't seen the job, it's hard to say if that's a fair price. It never hurts to get a few estimates just to be confident. Another idea is to try the job yourself and see how far you can get. If you are successful you'll have a lot of pride and extra $$ in your pocket. If you don't complete the project you can always have someone come in and finish it up. Plus you'll have some knowledge of what's going on.
