Thanks. This is the same basic setup for my Komperdell trekking poles. I tried using them without straps, but decided I liked it better with. I've watched this twice now to disassemble, then to reassemble. Thanks for your help.

❤ So much appreciation!! I spent an hour trying to put the straps back together after I took the black pin out, uttering a fair share of colorful expletives until I thought… KZbin!!!! I found your channel right away, and five minutes later, I had my straps back in both poles !! THANK YOU!!

Thank you so much! I own an inexpensive set of poles and both of the strap pads are the same direction. This was causing discomfort in one hand on longer hikes. With the info in this video, I was able to remove one strap and flip it so that one pole is left and the other is right. You just saved me at least 60 dollars!

David how did you do this? At two minutes into her video are you doing something different. She is saying that the piec s need to be a specific way. My left hand strap I can’t get the strap at the correct spot.

This was so helpful thank you! Never used poles before and of course I pulled too hard like an idiot... After 20 minutes of finessing on trail I figured the pin needed to come out but wasn't sure how. this is very informative thanks again!

Thank you for the video. When the poles arrived, the strap had a 1/2 twist inside the handle (next to the locking mechanism). And of course, with the extra thickness from the twist, the strap length adjustment wouldn't work/move. After following the video instructions, (and correcting the 1/2 twist), everything works normally. Note: Make sure the strap and locking mechanism are reinserted right side (2 straps side) up (3:00 in the video) or else you get to do the whole routine over again.

My hiking strap was completely jammed and I had no clue how to fix it so I was googling and googling and it dawned on me I should search for how to remove the strap and see if I could just take it apart and put it back together. Turns out upon taking it apart, the pin had gotten jammed in front of the strap therefore it wouldn't move anymore. Disassembled it according to your instructions and put it back together and now it's good as new. You should also label this video or how to fix a jammed/stuck hiking pole strap! THANK YOU!

Sweet thanks! I have a feature request: I want to modify one of my poles and make it a shooting stick for hunting (that's why I am watching this video). I am going to drill a hole in the top of the handle and screw a u-shaped tool hook in the top, giving me a u shaped cradle to set my rifle in.

I know this is a long shot since this video was published 6 years ago, but I need a replacement pin for the strap mechanism. The pin came out by itself mid-hike and I was unable to locate it. I could not find your website or any customer service info.

The engineers screwed up on the necessary tolerances, apparently the straps on BD poles have been breaking for years. Think about the myriad technological advances in mountain sports equipment made by BD engineers over the last few decades. Now ask yourself how it is possible that BD engineers cannot design a little pole strap that will not break. I wonder how many thousands of hours of BD customer's time has been wasted because the designers of a BD pole did not determine appropriate tolerances for a pole strap.
