Brilliant video, Aaron. I was one ofr those who asked for a follow-up, and have just seen this now! Thee is no harder garden work than bamboo removal, imo. The yard and fence looks great!

Thanks for the feedback. Yes it was certainly a bit of work, but the result was well worth it

Great video! I used a large 'spud bar' / pry bar like you did maybe about 10% of the time. The rest of the time I used a mattock and also loppers. If I saw any rhizomes I cut them with the loppers and then followed up with the mattock. I found cutting the rhizomes help a lot before using the mattock. On some really tough clumps I used the pry bar. I guess that I dug out around 30 Kg in roots alone! Took about 10 hours but I did it over a week. Your advice is excellent.

Good follow up video mate, I did wonder how the dig went, just one question, won't the bamboo next door grow down under your concrete barrier and eventually up the other side?

surprisingly I actually have not had one single shoot regrow on my side of the fence, so very pleased with the result.

Was that clumping bamboo or running bamboo that you removed?
@DIY-CIRCUIT4 жыл бұрын
I believe this is clumping bamboo as it was not tending to grow out sideways that quickly.

How's it looking now? I've just dug some up in my garden as I found it had grown down a foot and half to get under some pretty big rocks which were meant to contain it.

wow, that sounds like very agressive bamboo. I have only had 1 single small shoot re appear after about 12 months.

Hi Aaron, what did you do with the shoot that appeared? Simply dug it out? We’ve dug ours out using the same method but worried about any shoots before we start our next project, thanks!

just dig out all that you can if a new one appears. I only had ONE, and it did not re appear again.

Ive to move a a row of them probably about above 30feet best way is to hire a root grinder every thing else is to slow

I think it will grow under the concrete ..I put down concrete and it grew under it....I hope it doesn't grow on your side...let me know in six months if it still the same.. ..

Actually, this has been ok so far for 2 years, not regrowth on my side of the fence.

@@DIY-CIRCUIT good..I spent a day digging up two plants.. roots were after spreading ..one root went 15 feet along a wall..I have another six to try and remove next...do I cut first and leave leaves and spray plant and wait a few weeks..I was told not to try and dig them out first but spray plants after cutting back a few feet from ground and see what happens.

Nice follow up! There’s no getting around the hard work that is getting rid of bamboo. I hope you don’t have any new shoots pop up!
