Your videos are a big help on my 700 sportsman . Bought one not knowing anything about quads ran great for few months until it ran like shit and eventually wouldn't start. If you're installing a new choke cable it's easier to cut the old cable at the carb and use a socket. If your hands are small enough no need to take the carb off

Thanks, mine is an old Kawasaki Bayou 400. Tackled this after watching step 1 of your video and got choke off first, same tight fit but managed without grinding wrench down. You mentioned a spring was involved, will be interested to see where spring went to after I get throttle loose. Wouldn't it be nice to be able see schematic view with attachment points.

Mine is way different. There isnt any room on mine for you to turn the choke cable bolt. Its stripping when i try to turn using a 12. So im going to try needle nose plyers like u and see what happens

Great video man. May I ask why you pulled it out and did you clean it? Im having no idle and backfire issues.

It was leaking gas. I would check and clean your jets. Also check your valve lash on the rockers. your timing could be off. Or an air leak by the carb boot will do that too. Running lean causes backfire issues.

when you put the choke cable back in the carb ..do you spin that long threaded bolt all the way down flush ? or do you leave it up alittle bit or halfway ?

I will set it where it was. then adjust it as needed. the long thread was ment for adjustment of choke.

Hey i have a question i have a 2006 polaris sportsman 700 efi and it was apart when i bought it but theres on thing that is stoping me i cant seem to find out were my negative battery cable goes.

It usually mounts to the engine somewhere.

Take 4 screws off cover. Squeeze throttle till plate comes up. Turn cable about 3 o clock and it pulls straight up with round cable holder.

it seems that on my polaris sportsman 500 there’s not enough room to get to the choke cable bolt… i can even get needle noses down to the bolt to turn it

You might have to remove the fuel tank.

I can’t even find the choke on my carb on the predator 500 I bought a while ago, thing is beat to crap but fun, easily dies though when I switch gears. I think somebody put a different carb on it? Not sure. Any tips would be appreciated

Best thing to do is go to partzilla. They have reference numbers you can look at to see if your carb is right. Also Google pictures of the carb. That should at least tell you if it is the right carb.

Depending on the year, the choke cable should come in the carb on the top right side. You should see it clear with the airbox off.
