How to Remove Dried Set In Blood Stains from Fabric

Dried blood stains are tricky and difficult. The more traditional blood stain removal methods (like using hydrogen peroxide) don't frequently hack it! So, I did some experimenting to discover how, if at all, you could remove dried blood stains, set-in blood stains, old ones that perhaps already went through the wash or dyer. Not everything I tried worked, and one product seemed to work the best, although some stains I still could not lift, the stains that had been through the wash and dryer one too many times, and ignored for too long. So, if you are dealing with old blood stains from bloody noses, cut lips, bloody picked scabs, periods, or whatever, here's how to remove blood stains from fabrics and clothes using ammonia!!
Here's what you'll need:
- Ammonia
- Small cup or shallow dish
- Cotton balls
Pour the ammonia into the cup, and dip the cottonball into the ammonia. Dab at the stain with the ammonia soaked cotton ball until mostly gone. Flip fabric material over and dab again on the underside. Change out cotton balls as necessary and rewet as necessary. Once stain is removed, throw in the washing machine and wash as normal.
If you are worried about color fastness or damaging the fabric, do a test spot first.

Also hydrogen peroxide and a clothing iron work just rub it then apply heat and repeat till it’s gone. It works for very old stains

I used hydrogen peroxide on a color fast red shirt, and it ruined the shirt. Left a big bleach type mark. And that wasn't even with using an iron.

Hydrogen peroxide is pretty strong, it can bleach colours out, maybe that’s why it left a bleach mark, probably won’t recommend it on coloured shirts

I had a seriously dried out blood 🩸stain! As red as that on a lite yellow shit! It’s always your favorite, isn’t it 😅 I saw another video that suggested Hydrogen Peroxide, if it didn’t work to add baking soda. Didn’t need baking soda. It came out so fast, I was shocked 😮 I’ll try Ammonia next time! I have a few black stains on my carpet my Son put there! will this work on sofas and chairs? Ive got a really bad stain on two of my dining chairs I caught it too late and couldn't get the proper cleaner to fix it. I just bought a Little Green Pro Heat and have been going to town on one of the chairs. so far its done a decent job it got most of it out but there is still a very noticeable round stain still visible.
