How to Remove Folders From Macbook Desktop (without deleting)

Some people love to keep their Macbook home screen super clean and organized, and a lot of times it happens that you want the entire desktop to be empty. Hey Apple Fox, thanks for the video. Quick question, I have downloaded Miro. Now that it is downloaded I have a Miro File on my desktop that I don't want there. The file kind is Volume. If move it to trash it wants to uninstall Miro. I cant drag it to downloads folder as it just creates an alias in the folder and keeps the desktop file. I would appreciate your help here.
