How to remove front and rear door panels on 2016 Kia Forte 5

Thanks for including the step for detaching the handle/lock cable and holder assembly from the door panel. I watched a different video yesterday, before attempting the repair (on a 2014 Kia Forte sedan), that didn't include this step (he simply rotates the door panel to get access to the mounting screws for the switch assembly). I found out about it by accident, when the cable and holder assembly popped off by itself, after I laid the door panel aside while I went to grab another tool. Fortunately it wasn't broken, and I figured out pretty quickly how it came apart, and went back together. It made sense it was designed this way, since it makes assembly in the factory simple. Also, people should be aware that all the pop fasteners don't always come off with the panel, and sometimes stay in the door. In my case, today, two didn't come out. It's the same thing I've seen with pulling panels off of other cars, over the years. You just have to carefully pry them out of the holes in the door and try not to break them, then slide them pack into their slots in the panel. This is also the modular door assembly I've worked on; one that doesn't have separate components mounted to the door, and and a glued-on or taped-on plastic sheet weathershield.

Thank you for the video. Quick question is there any chase to remove the left door arm rest /the part that is covered with stitched leather, I don't know how it is called/ from the door panel? Mine is ripped and I want to change only the arm rest or I have to replace the whole door panel? Thank you!

I am not sure. I believe it is a separate piece, but the door panel has to come off first. Then it might have screws in the back holding it on the panel

alexongpanghai sorry but when that happens, something usually breaks inside the door. In order to access the door you have to take off the panel. This is not easy, when you have everything in the way. In these cases only thing i can advise is removing the passenger front seat, and rear seat. This should give you enough room to remove the door panel. Good luck

Does this give you access to repair windows. My windows are going up super slow and you can see them shift when you roll them up they shift and get jammed in the track:( I dont want to end up burning out the motors just rolling my windows up cause they seem to really struggle and it's all of them. Also thank you for this video you're very helpful.

Brandon Vu it doesn’t give you access. You still would have to remove the metal panel and anything else in the way. Sounds like the window guide is worn. Those parts are not easily found. I would call a glass shop. They can fix it for about $50-75

Dyno boc the sound deadening materials usually goes on the metal of the door once the door panel is removed. We usually don’t go behind that other metal area, only where the speaker sits.

That’s not called the door panel. Look up a video on how to remove the glass on your specific year make and model. That should show how to remove that metal piece. I usually don’t go that far into the door. But I believe it’s a little tricky getting that off. Usually there’s bolts all the way around

My right door check broke yesterday, I suppose I have to perform this removal to even access the check ? It’s the black hinge that keeps your door from free swinging closed. I never knew what it was called .It totally crumbled and broke

David Harp not sure how to replace that part. I have had a few vehicles with that part broken and have never attempted to repair it. A body shop might be able to guide or help you better.

what about the windows??? are you talking about removing them??? i only remove door panels, because i tint windows for a living and on most cars i remove the panels to make it easier to tint the windows. i don't do videos on tinting them at this time.
