THANK YOU SO MUCH! I inherited a asus sonicmaster from my dad who passed away he was a high level tech guy. I had to hack into the laptop and reset a bunch of stuff when I did somehow the HDD passwords got set to the password I set to get into the laptop I couldnt figure out how to turn it off as I had no idea how it got turned on and didnt have experience with HDD passwords before. This video finally helped me turn the passwords off and from the bottom of my heart thank you sir!

S. Y. Yeah he did, but that was the user password. He did not put the HDD password because he did not know it, he had to clear that option it in the set up menu by creating the administrator password first.

Ok so I know how to fix it so step one is go the ufci settings step two is go security step three is enter your old password step four is leave the password blank and repeat step four and step five is hit enter when it says remove old password and then you got no password thing to enter when booted up

Didn't work for me on my acer aspire 5334. Set user and supervisor passwords but the original unknown hdd password was still saved in hdd I couldn't enter my own password for hdd. Also the hdd password was never grayed out even before setting user and supervisor passwords.
