How to Remove & Install Low Beam Headlight Bulbs - 2005 Subaru Outback

Today I show you how to remove and replace the low beam headlight bulbs on my Subaru Outback XT. To my knowledge, this process is same for the following:
2005 Subaru Outback (All trims)
2006 Subaru Outback (All trims)
2007 Subaru Outback (All trims)
I was worried about breaking more clips like my last video, however as you see in this video it actually wasn't bad at all!

Very helpful. I would suggest seating the bulb FIRST, then plug it in. You can plug in in a way that's impossible to seat, so leaving yourself full mobility, you can turn the bulb until it drops into place--then clip it in and plug it in.

I did this today and definitely agree with setting the bulb first, pinning it in, and then plugging it in. Job went smoothest that way. Thank you so much for the video and advice.

Figured that out on the fly. Also, my dad taught me to handle the bulb with a clean handkerchief and apply some electrical contact grease to the prongs to insure conduction and inhibit corrosion. Thanks!

Hello Brittany, just a little tip.. Don't touch the bulb with your fingers. It will cause it to burn out prematurely. What I do is spray the bulb with electrical parts cleaner or clean the bulb with rubbing alcohol before you put it in. Doing this will save you having to change it every 6months.

That XT looks nice under the hood. These videos are a lifesaver. That metal clip would have for sure broke if I didn’t watch a ‘how to’ video prior to changing it my first time. I still generally pull one up to ensure I’m doing things correctly. Since so much time passes until I need to replace the bulbs.

Doesn't really matter if you touch the bulb on the way out lol it's served its purpose. Don't touch the glass when installing, as the oil on your fingers causes problems. Very helpful video! And super clean xt!

Great video, did one, and then a couple weeks later had to do the other. 2005 Subaru Legacy, worked just the same. Except where you had 1 of those clips for the plastic cover on the passenger side, I don’t have any lol

I’d definitely recommend getting a XT or if you can, find a H6 of this generation! Really good cars and the H6 Outback will treat you really well if you take care of them!
