How to remove Mercedes Benz EIS (Electronic ignition switch)

Does the position of the steering matter for me to get easy access to the eis? Should be lowered before I take the wheel off?

If anyone's stuck on that shift connector on the eis, push it forwards when you pinch the tabs together don't lift it.

That's a lot of work, I just loosened all fasteners for lower trim and took it out

BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THE ELECTRICAL PLUG ON THE EIS YOU MUST DOWNLOAD YOUR CAR’s info to a computer…I completely bricked my gl450, i.e. nothing worked…nothing!

Lol I can remove these by pulling cluster drilling 1 hole and then take out one screw amd bracket comes out then eis drops down. The only time I pull column is for ELV/ESL repair.
