not sure what wrong we are doing, once the mask path is created and any of the options like mask path, feather, opacity is clicked the mask path disappears and that's it we need to draw a new path but it goes off at the moment any mask option is clicked

Ok, so I try this and masking and it works but if a person walks in front of the spot it's distorted. How do I edit that?

Try looping your shot (repeat the part without the person). Or, cut out the person part and slow down the rest.

i dont get black around the mask when i try this.. NO video explains this. The mask just disappers. i wish there was a vid that actually explained this correctly

Maybe you can try clicking the Mask (1) option under Opacity on the same clip you drew your mask before. Also you should make sure to keep both the clips separate before you start the masking like she did in the video. It worked for me when I did it This way. Hope this helps :)
