Should you not ring the cloth out into a different bucket to avoid polluting the wash /
@ObsidianDetailing Жыл бұрын
You certainly could! Absolutely. But you know what comes next lol, "if you use 2 buckets, why not 3, with grit guards". And if 3 why not 4! Detailing is one of those types of activities. My way has always been to see a problem and look for simple, quick, cheap solutions that overcome them. I wanted a way to better mobilise broken down residue off the panel, and leave less behind, and for me 1 bucket of solution has transformed my work. For what it's worth I replace it after each stage of polishing so may use 2 or even 3 clean solutions. But if someone wanted to use 2 or more buckets I would tip my hat to them for sure, not judge them

what comes next ...don't be silly , wringing out a dirty rag into clean water is the question , a simple question and you make it into what comes next ....what comes next is you saying sorry for a stupid answer that should have read ..yes .@@ObsidianDetailing
@ObsidianDetailing Жыл бұрын
@patrickgagnon9662 you have completely misunderstood the tone of my comment and I think taken it personally. It was more a light hearted remark about detailing and detailers in general. And I mistook your statement of fact as a question. No, I "shouldn't" ring it into a different bucket, unless I want to, then yes I absolutely should. YOU should use as many buckets as you think will give you the best results for your use case, but I do highly recommend you use at least one, that way you are still cleaning to an infinitely better level than non at all which is the common way to do it and how the vast majority of detailers still do it.
@patrickgagnon9662 Жыл бұрын
I may have taken that wrong ...sorry . But having two buckets is the way and not to mention that to us newbies is not right , if you can't see that , and tell us this simple fact of the matter ...two buckets is the way ....full stop !@@ObsidianDetailing

Again, you are free to do what you feel is required. I have no idea your experience level, or how many cars you have polished and or coated, nor do I know your processes and products, but before you make an assumption based off of limited knowledge I really do recommend you give this a try next time you do, and see just how much better it is than no solution at all. And then try it with 2 buckets and experience how it makes no difference to the effectiveness of the job. The mechanism here is to simply use the solution to clean out the cloth rather than to let it collect in the fibres, each time you ring it out it comes out cleaner if you hadn't done it, and the damp cloth mobilises the broken down residue far far better than a dry cloth. But again I am a big believer in people doing what they feel is best for them! So even if you try a single bucket, then 2, and 2 makes you feel more comfortable I have achieved my goal of people trying new things and testing things for themselves. I understand that what you are saying makes sense to you, believe me I do, and I have of course tried it as it's a logical experiment. But this is my method based on being hands on with hundreds of cars, and assessing the results I get. 2 or more buckets has genuinely made no advancements for me in terms of residue control, panel cleanliness, filler removal or coating adhesion so 1 bucket is my method and the method I still stand by personally. As long as others will at least play with, and adjust it as a starting point, I am more than happy

Brilliant! Great idea for senssitive paints. Quality, clean towels and a rinseless wash. How about a clear water rinse bucket before dropping the used cloth back in the rinseless solution. I'm just thinking of ridding thr polish residue before another pass on the next panel. Love your videos, mate! Keep 'em coming.
@ObsidianDetailing Жыл бұрын
So I tried clean water in a secondary bucket and it doesn't really clean the cloths as well as I hoped. So I then did it with another bucket of rinseless, which obviously worked great, but is no more economical. So I settled on changing the bucket after each stage of polishing. You can do it for sure, I'm not sure the gains are worth it, but if you want the absolute BEST way to clean as you go, 2 buckets, both rinseless, is the way imo

Great summary.. I'm a complete convert to this method now (with Feynlab PR).. . Have a look at the Rag company pluffle towels for the final wipe. I've been playing around with towels and because of their microfibre waffle weave mix these are on a different level for absorbing liquids, like rinseless wash. They're not too plush, meaning there is 0 drag and the experience is far improved over the 350 GSM cloths which I agree are perfect for having in the bucket for the wet wipe.

Top video mate. I'm in a detailing page on Facebook. Just got a Black Saphire black metallic BMW. Put SO many hours in. A proper multistage job. Got to the refining process (Yellow to White) Rupes pad and starting getting this terrible marring affect? Looked like when a spray wax is sprayed and not been buffed properly.. I thought it was further scratching, So went back to a cut and it went worse and worse. Was going round and round. Literally all it was the use of shit cloths and heavy scrubbing causing bad cloth marring. 500gsm cloth and a refing pad and polish, rotating cloths.. came right out!!

Sometimes it really is the small things. Plus I think after a LOT of polishing paint starts to get trickier and those small things become even more important. Haven't looked back since using this method with nice cloths, cheap, quick and super effective. Cheaper than giving to polish the car again that's for sure lol! Glad it helped
@jayroberts4900 Жыл бұрын
@@ObsidianDetailing Definitely bud. When you use this method the car paint is slight damp isn't it? So when you take your polisher back to the paint does it affect the pad being slightly damp? Do you also use an IPA in between? Ta bud
@ObsidianDetailing Жыл бұрын
no, as per the video you use another plus cloth to buff up the residue. Do this after each polishing set and stage, then panel wipe if coating. Cleanest panel you have had lol

I know a few who use it daily also. It's not new passé, I think we in the UK are just untrusting of a lot of stuff, rinseless being one of them. But it's getting more popular and accepted I feel

I recon it’s the MF suppliers, towels clogging up more means they can sell more towels. With this method, you can wipe down a whole car with 2-3 cloths.

Thanks for the knowledge:) What if I still have a second step of polishing to do after that- can I start the second step right away after applying and drying the ONR? Or should I wipe the panel and degrease it before starting the second step? Thanks!
@ObsidianDetailing2 жыл бұрын
No go straight to the next set. If using onr the "polymers" are very weak, barely there in fact and will be removed immediately If using feynlab it's even cleaner still, but both can be followed up immediately

Great video mate, loving your content and always looking to learn and adapt my ways. One question though, how are you prepping the paint for coatings after this method? As in your still going to go over the panels again with your chosen IPA etc? You don't just coat after this I mean? I've always used Carpro Eraser with Rag Company Edgeless Terry towels
@ObsidianDetailing3 жыл бұрын
100% yes, I still use a proper panel wipe (spies hecker 7010). Eraser would be more than enough if using this method.

@@ObsidianDetailing What are your thoughts on normal panel wipe not breaking down polishing oils etc and dedicated sprays like Eraser and Gyeon Prep etc are better suited?
@ObsidianDetailing3 жыл бұрын
My experience is the opposite, proper panel wipe work way better. Ipa, sure, i can see issues with effectiveness AND lubrication. Actual panel wipes, no With that said if you have removed the overwhelming majority of oils etc then you shouldn't need to rely on the product it just becomes security
