Couldn't have cleaned mine without your video - should've measured the difference in temperature as I was able to remove a vacuum full of dust and dog hair (none of it mine🤢)! Thank you! 👍

Thanks for your response. Although our radiator is very similar, I can't see any sign of clips and there's no central pipe ( 2 panel with fins in between).

I'd leave the top cover off it seems pointless. I've got a few radiators with covers and they have a screw underneath the side panels that lets them move up just enough to release the top cover.

I did suggest leaving them off, it didn't go well.🤣 They come off easy and it's only once a year 👍

Yes, leave them off. Dont seem do much except get in the way of cleaning and look ugly.

I've got one like that, I pull side away from the rad as far as I can then push an old drum stick in and up to the top and lever it that way, being wooden it doesn't damage anything but you still need to be careful

It's a triple 1600mm, that's the downside of heat pumps you need more surface area because the temps are lower, especially in older houses.

Thank you Royal advisor. (Prince Harry's and Princess Charlotte's Dutch Mum, same woman yes!) I found my specific rad here, and I got the cover off, not easy, do not know this "dirt"meter, but I will make a serious job out of cleaning, and after that installing new radfoil behind.

At 3:18 you mention clips but you haven't zoomed in to show us exactly what they look like. I suspect you need to be careful not to break these, so it'd be good to have seen what you're talking about. Also why remove the sides, why not just the top?

Zoom would have been good noted, the clips are quite large big enough to get your thumb in, they clip the top cover to the pipe that connects the 2 halves of the radiator at the top. The metal tabs that hold the top to the sides flair outwards away from the rad so you have to lift the whole thing up to clear the valves so you can swing the sides up about 45 degrees to remove them. It's just easier at this point to lift the whole thing over to chair as one and then put it back when your finished rather than fight the sides. If the top came off on it's own the whole thing would be so much easier.
