I have put this problem off for almost 2 years and it's about a 15 minute fix. My issue is that my left rear bumper bracket broke, likely during a carwash at the petrol station and I've used tape to hold it together ever since. Bought the part I need and in a few days and a 10mm later it will be fixed. Thanks for the video, much appreciated.

When I received my new bumper cover it didn't include the black strip/guard on the underside. Is it necessary to use the one that's already on the old bumper or is it not really important? Thank you. Very helpful. As you reattached the unit and found the tab on the left side dislocated, I found this to be the case on both sides. I believe the tab gets dislocated during the removal process. Easily fixed as demonstrated in your video. 2012 Prius Plugin.

"Looks like they backed into something". Look close on the left side of the bumper cover @ 4:04. You can see the license plate number pushed into the bumper cover, where someone ran into them. Funny!

I don't think the clips at 1:33 need to be removed, same with the other side. And when that plastic piece at 5:49 gets dislocated, you don't have to remove the three bolts, just forcefully bend it back into place, you won't break it.
