Rather than struggle to break up concrete around the old post, simply just pull it out, save time and energy.

Brilliant mate. This is exactly what I was looking for as I shudder to think about digging around the post as our soil is pure clay and a nightmare to hand dig. Thank-you from Winnipeg, Canada!

Just removed ten posts in a day, came out of the concrete like piece of cheese. Really does work. Thanks for the advice.

Thank you! Tried this & it worked first time. Probably took me 10minutes. Genius!

Tried it with much bigger lag bolts, a chain and a farm jack. It did not work. The post were rotten and the bolts pulled out of the wood. Needed 18” bolts to find good wood. Going back with steel post.

How does it come out do easily if it’s been set in concrete ? Wouldn’t it be stuck to a concrete block?
@geofus8 ай бұрын
If it’s tight just tap it around the sides with a lump hammer, it really is that easy.

@@geofusthanks I tried it out with an Oak post that had rotted. I used a heavy 6ft breaker to pivot and eventually pulled the twisted screws out of the post. Any further suggestions?
@geofus6 ай бұрын
@@AlexEllis in that case you need to hire a concrete breaker to break away the concrete away from the remainder of the post, it may be stuck solid. Then use longer screws, sounds a tough one.

Geoff, are the screws, Coach screws? Can only find M6 whereas aren’t the holes in the plate 5.5 mm diameter? Did you drill the holes out a bit in the plate? Any advice will be most welcome. Thanks

Your right, I’ve just checked the package, they are M6 150mm, they fit perfectly in the eye plate I used. www.toolstation.com/coach-screw/p69653

Hi do you have a link for the screws/bolts? they appear to have a hexagon head. I can’t seem to find something similar at toolstation. Thanks

Great, many thanks. I’ve burnt out a couple of electric drills in the past trying to remove the rotten stumps of posts!

Did it work quite well? The post in my concrete is very imbedded into the concrete. It’s worse than a nightmare! 😭

Wow it looks like those posts only went in about 200mm….shocking.

What concrete do you use to secure the new post? Postcrete?
@geofus Жыл бұрын
Yes I do normally, but if its a big job then I would use fast setting cement and mix my own concrete.
@MatthewSenior-h7u Жыл бұрын
@@geofus could I mix some up wet in the existing concrete hole and push the post into it?
@geofus Жыл бұрын
Yes, just make sure you clean the hole first with clean water.
