I really love that you guys just keep the bloopers in there, just to show what an eloquent speaker Preston is!

Great tips I really need. Also, I love the way Preston handles little slips and bloopers. Rather than stopping the recording and editing them out, he turns them into entertaining snippets.

Use talcum power to remove oil on silk or other materials! Fine powder absorbs the oil and then can be brushed off !

This video reminds me of my late grandma. She was an expert at removing stains. No wonder my late grandpa loved and appreciated her a lot. Maybe she would have used the same ways just like on this video, but wish I could ask her the secrets of her magic... May you rest in peace, Grandma..

I learned to carry a Shout wipe as recommended by Sven, and they’re incredibly helpful. You can tell the appreciation from others when you handed a wipe to them!

How do I best remove the unpleasant smell of sweat from my neck ties? Is club soda enough or would you suggest to try out backing soda?

Thank you for this, very helpful. One should also avoid stains by not eating on buses, but if it is a long bus ride you may want to take your jacket and or tie off.

there is nothing more annoying than getting advice from a hundred people saying how to avoid getting a stain on your tie, when the reason you looked up this video is because you already have a stain

Great video as usual! To be frank it's not so much the tie stains I worry about but rather the bullet holes when someone tries to 'ventilate' me, signed Peter Gun !

I found the hairspray works well to get ink out of silk
@mulliganstew723 жыл бұрын
It’s probably the alcohol in the hairspray that is doing the work so I would just use alcohol versus hairspray because hairspray also contains silicones (which are oily) and fragrances and other such chemicals that might exacerbate a stain..

Can we take some time to salute the Fort Belvedere products damaged in the making in this video?
@gentlemansgazette4 жыл бұрын
We used a few vintage items in Raphael's collection; no Fort Belvedere accessories were harmed in the making of this video--but if they had been, we still could have gotten the stains out! :) - Preston

Can polyester ties be thrown in the washing machine??
@mulliganstew723 жыл бұрын
Better to hand wash. They might get twisted and end up choking themselves leaving deep dents in the fabric.

French chalk over talcum powder, and if you have a blood stain, then the saliva of the bleeder is the most helpful. I joke not.

Why would anyone own or wear a tie if it's that complicated to clean?! As a woman I've never owned anything that was that complicated. It's very sad, because I needed a tie for work and it got spots on it....

Just take it to the cleaners
@phillipmoodie90714 жыл бұрын
@Anthony K That's OK if it's polyester. Only a few drycleaners in each city know how to properly clean a silk tie. That's why advice on how to spot clean is so valuable. I started out in life studying to be a chemical engineer, then I built my own factory to manufacture speciality chemicals for general purpose cleaning. The advice given by Preston is First Class. As he correctly says ---- Drycleaning is a last resort. On the other hand I have a wool suit with a specially made bag allows you to avoid drycleaners by just throwing the bag bag into the washing machine, then following ínstructions. Phil.
@mulliganstew723 жыл бұрын
They have absolutely no idea how to handle so garments. I tried three Places in my city and wound up doing a better job myself. They also shrank a wool coat of mine… I don’t take anything to the dry cleaner anymore. There’s pretty much nothing you can’t deal with at home.

Another solution Don't buy silk product Buy normal products Microfiber or polyester or cotton ties Easy to clean with Persil Gil and water Use steamer to get them ironed . Enjoy
