510 is friggin amazing. It cuts a little faster than 500 with a quicker cycle time and better wipe off, and it finishes down unbelievably well. Working on single stage black, nothing would touch it and I was out of 500, couldn’t get more for over a week but I found some 510 with overnight shipping. It was a night and day difference from the handful of compounds I had on hand. Then I went straight from wool to a simple foam cutting on a rotary, stuck with 510 and literally jeweled the paint. No DA, no soft polishing pad. Zero haze, zero holograms.. under a Scangrip.. on jet black. Perfect. Couldn’t believe it.

3D is my favorite car care company, and I've watched Mike for years, so when I heard he'd be joining 3D, I was hyped. Watching him put the compound on the pad the way he did I was like "yup, he's still Mike". Looks like I got a lot of videos to catch up on.

@Mike Phillips cheers Mike! I really like the power of the ACA500 with the rotary and wool. The cut is insane but if I take it hard on it it can dust heavy 😇 One question... If you compare the 510 mit the Meg. M100... What would be your choice in terms of removing really heavy defects (like 10years of tunnel wash etc.)?

Wow I just learned that Mike left Autogeek and to 3D and found his post on why he left. I work for a local car care brand in Malaysia and I agree with many of his points. I’ve followed Mike since the Meguiarsonline days and even bought a physical signed copy of his book many years ago! So happy for you Mike, and looking forward to see more of your videos!

Those swirls are pretty light, but I’ll give it to you guys since you only used a polishing pad and an 8mm throw machine. I want to see it with the twisted wool on a rotary, something with heavy oxidation, deeper scratches, heavy water spot etching , something borderline I need to pull out the 1500 grit to level it before my compounding step, put it to the test.
@3DCarCare2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Yes swirls were light if it was in worse condition I am sure Mike would have used the Flex 340. Will create a video like you stated once we get a car in here in that condition. - Yancy

Mike, i like how you dont do the traditional 3-4 dots, you just load it up and then run the polisher in small circles to prime it.

You can use 3D 520 to polish out if using a 2 step process - 3dproducts.com/collections/compounds-polishes/products/3d-aca-finishing-polish-520. Then to seal the paint you can use any of our waxes, sealants or coatings. 3dproducts.com/collections/coatings-wax-sealants

Not all Marcs are ceramic clear. It was an optional extra on certain models and im pretty certain the car in the video is not ceramic clear. No way would a polishing pad on a free spinning DA give those results on ceramic clear. It was standard on the S Class and if youve ever tried polishing one you'll know that even 510 on wool and rotary struggles to remove the heavier defects. I dont know of any compound that actually makes easy work of ceramic clear. Ive just done a Merc S Class with 250K miles and seriously heavy swirled paint and even after 510 and wool pad, it only removed around 75% of the defects. Some VW's also had the option of ceramic clear.

@3DCarCare2 жыл бұрын
Yes it would have been faster to use a rotary but the purpose of this video was to show you the power of the 510 compound. 8mm DA with a polishing pad on hard paint not many compounds can do that out there. Plus using a rotary you will still have to come back to remove your holograms... so is the rotary really faster in the long run? - Yancy

@@harveymiller4DD I’m starting to think you did NOT go to Harvard! Rotary is king! The DA polisher is a scam that company’s capitalize on.
