I have installed tape in extensions on myself & my clients in the salon for 6+ years now, and this is by far the most efficient way I've found to remove them. So quick & easy, NO DAMAGE, and you can buy what you need at any drugstore👌🏽

@kebranch6673 I just went through a nightmare taking mine out. Were yours in for a couple weeks and if so did you flat iron the tape to melt it in, and this still worked? I didn't melt mine but a few kind of slipped so I was thinking of ironing them next time. I really want to try this method. Her's looked so easy. Was it that easy for you? Any help is so appreciated ! Thanks!

Thank you for this gem!!! 💜 My sister was out of town for 2 weeks and typically removes them for me with an adhesive… I didn’t want to wait so figured I’d give it a try, skeptically and with caution. I raved to her about this hack 🤩when I first started started I was pulling them apart, by the time I got to the second half I realized if you leave it on just for a few seconds longer, re-spray the tape with it being partially open to access the bond easier they will literally slide out, no pulling, no damage and you don’t have to put them back together. This saved so much time, took them out in 45 minutes watching tv.

You made it look so easy! I am a first time hair extensions person. Had tape ins done at the salon for over $200. Went back seven weeks later to have them re-done and cost $80 plus tip. Was told would be $60, but then was told that was for the first time. Mine REALLY seemed stuck when she took them out. Although she sprayed with some sort of adhesive remover, she still had a difficult time and there was A LOT of pulling. She assured me that she wasnt breaking or damaging my hair, but I don’t know how it couldn’t have. Yours seemed to just slide right out!

I know there’s a bunch of different removal products out there, but in my experience I just haven’t found anything that works as quickly (and without pulling or damage!) as rubbing alcohol 🤷🏻‍♀️ I would ask your stylist if you are able to remove your extensions at home first, and then see them just for the reinstallation. If they don’t mind, it might be a good option for you! 💕

I had the same issue. Stylist was really aggressive taking them out. Put on some solution for a second and then started pulling the brush through my hair and left me with bald patches. I have thin fine hair. It was horrific. I'd love to have long thick hair but I'm so afraid of it happening again!

@@rebeccaparsons716 @donnabellahair - been using them for years and I love them! They come in SO many colors & styles and are great quality As far as stubborn residue, I would try experimenting with a couple different things! First, changing up the brand of tape you're using may make a difference. In my experience, the kind of adhesive each brands use seems to vary a bit, so you may find another kind works better for you! Donna Bella sells their own replacement tape on their website, but I usually just get the pre cut replacement tape by Satin Strands (on sheets, not the roll you have to cut) from Sally's. I would also recommend adjusting the amount of time you go between removing & reapplying your extensions. When I had mine in, I would redo them around 4/5 weeks & it was usually pretty easy to get them out, but have noticed that it takes more time/effort to fully remove the tape + residue on my clients that keep their extensions in longer, (8+ weeks) Hopefully one of those will help! Good luck & lmk how it goes! 💕

Hi I just wondered if you could help, can you re install the tapes again the same day without washing if just using the alcohol spray? I know if you use oil you need to wash and dry before re applying but if just using the alcohol could you just re install after re taping without washing? Thanks
@maiamerina
@maiamerina 3 жыл бұрын
Technically you could, but I do recommend washing before reinstallation for a couple reasons! You’ll want to avoid washing your hair for at least 24 hours after putting your extensions back in (even if you didn’t use oil to take them out), and installing on clean hair will also ensure the tape sets right without any potential old glue/alcohol residue disturbing the bonds (giving it the best chance at lasting) 💕

Yes, I use the same kind for all of it! My tip if you’re reusing the same extensions would be to take them out & wash your hair, then clean off the extensions and reinstall and keep them in for at least 24 hours (or whatever the manufacturer recommends), and then wash it all together. I’ve found this helps them blend together better 💕

This seems so much easier than what I’ve experienced. I had to help remove my girlfriends and the tape leaves so much residue in her hair that you have to pull it off every strand manually. No isopropyl or any chemical we’ve tried helps much. Can’t comb it out either as it just locks the comb instantly and starts breaking her hair (has very fragile hair). She’s left with a ton of glue residue. Must be doin something wrong :(

@maiamerina
@maiamerina 3 жыл бұрын
Yes! Just take the old tape off & reapply new tape for your next installation ☺️ Depending on the quality of the hair & how you treat them, they can last & be reused for a surprisingly long time! I usually only reorder mine once a year (because they’re real hair so they do eventually get split ends, need to be trimmed to fit the area they’re installed in, etc- which means they lose a little length over time) when the company I use (Donna Bella) is having a sale 💕

Hi! Any advice on how to prevent matting from hair extensions?
@maiamerina
@maiamerina 3 жыл бұрын
In my experience this has definitely come down to the quality of the brand! I have found that the ones I use (Donna Bella) hold up extremely well & while they still need to be brushed daily like your regular hair, they don’t get matted like I’ve had happen with other brands (mainly when I’ve tried to branch out & see if ones you can buy in store are comparable). I would try detangling in the shower if you find they get more matted while wet, using a detangling/conditioning styling spray while brushing them dry (you could keep a travel brush with you if they usually get tangled during the day) to help get through mats gently & prevent snapping or breakage, and try sleeping with your hair in braids or a wrapped bun if it’s happening more at night! But if it’s something you’re still running into often, I would look into other brands- I found the prices were very similar from the ones I love vs the ones I struggled with most, but the quality was VERY different! Good luck love & keep me posted on how it goes! 💕❤️

Hello i have few questions regarding tape in hair extensions do they damage your your new growing hair or it doesnt bother them at all?
@maiamerina
@maiamerina 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! They don’t damage your new growth if done properly 🥰 They CAN cause damage if not installed correctly though! Most common is too little hair between the extensions (so the weight of the extensions pulls & can break off your hair) or if they’re done too tight they can cause irritation to your scalp!

If there isn’t a salon that offers them in your area, you could try watching some videos to learn & do them yourself! It takes awhile to install/get the hang of it & they may not look as great or last as long as if someone else did them, but it is possible! What do you think about using these on rather oily hair that needs to be washed every 2 days? Do you recommend putting these in? 😊
@maiamerina
@maiamerina 3 жыл бұрын
I think it can go either way! On one hand, it might be annoying to have to wash & dry your hair so often with extensions (they can take longer to dry) if you keep on the same schedule.. but I find that I can get away with washing my hair much less frequently when I have my extensions in! The added volume they give to my hair really helps it not look dirty/flat as quickly so it’s easier to go more days between washing 💕
@RonnieHeartsMakeUp
@RonnieHeartsMakeUp 3 жыл бұрын
@@maiamerina do you think the tapeins wouldn’t slip or come off as the hair is more oily, as I mentioned? I read that tapeins are not a good type of extensions for oily hair. Do you also think that there is a very high chance of shedding when using tapeins for a long time? My goal isn’t the lenght, just the added volume. I recently cut my hair to long bob (blunt cut) and I would love to add more volume to it! I’m just not sure if I want to experience hair loss as my hair is quite thin and soft. On the other hand, that kind of short hair (as I would cut it to my lenght) AND just a few added “sandwiches” (approx 50grams) shouldn’t cause massive hair loss in my opinion. But I’m curious what you think. Thank you!😊
@maiamerina
@maiamerina 3 жыл бұрын
@@RonnieHeartsMakeUp I have never had an issue with slipping on my clients who have more oily hair, but it may be something you have to try yourself to see for sure as everyone’s hair is different! Shedding with tape ins is isn’t bad if they’re applied correctly.. basically throughout the weeks you have them in, hair is trapped in the tape & therefore cannot be lost like usual, so you will usually notice a few hairs in the tapes when you remove them. It’s nothing to be concerned about ☺️ If they are installed incorrectly though (too much/too little hair in between the wefts), it can cause breakage and damage where they were applied, so you’ll want to make sure you go to a reputable stylist to avoid any potential damage 💕

It’s really tricky to color extensions well!! In my experience, every time I’ve tried to lighten them they’ve had a weird pinkish hue to the lightened parts. I eventually gave up and did the opposite, and would order a lighter color and then add a root color to match my own at the top to melt down into the blonde, and that worked MUCH better. You can ask your stylist if she would be willing to try doing them that way and see if that helps! 💕

@@maiamerina thanks so much for the reply. She actually did the blonde extensions and did the roots my color. She’s awesome at doing my hair like that. Looks just like yours. Just looks terrible and you can see my dark hair on the nape of my neck that I didn’t have any blonde. Looks terrible. I feel so bad because she worked so hard at it. What method and colors did you use?
@maiamerina
@maiamerina Жыл бұрын
@@mariaguadagnino437 I usually just paint them to melt the root color down like I would on a clients own hair! Maybe ask if she could blend & soften the line a bit more? I’m sure she would understand! Another option is to get more extensions & mix them! Do the more blended weft on the top & the harsher line weft on the bottom (opposite for the neck & hairline areas, because when you pull your hair up you’ll want the more blended weft to be on the bottom to hide the lines more) and it will help disguise the color!

Hi are these tape in extensions the best type for fine hair? I have been used to wearing clip ins for many years now so I can remove them on a night time, but I've noticed that we're the extensions clip to my natural hair its causing it to break off and have bald patches. I'm trying to find the best method of extensions so my natural hair can remain healthy and not come out with too much tension x
@maiamerina
@maiamerina 3 жыл бұрын
In my experience, clip ins can cause damage over time in general- especially to fine hair! I do suggest tape ins & they have worked well for many of my finer haired clients, but sometimes the extensions are still too heavy & slip out of the hair more quickly, OR they don’t have enough hair on top to cover the wefts. So in those cases, other methods (like hand tied, halo, or a top volumizer) might be a better fit 💕

@maiamerina
@maiamerina Жыл бұрын
There’s almost always some small bits of sticky residue left, and they will go away after a few washes. But the big areas are the worst! I spray alcohol directly on them & use the long end of a rat tail comb to separate into smaller pieces to comb them down & out of the hair. Sometimes using a hair oil helps too! In my experience, 2 things can make a difference with this- some brands of tape are more “gummy” when removing, and the longer the tape in extensions were left in, the more residue they leave behind- so I’d try adjusting both the brand of tape + amount of time they’re in when you reinstall. Good luck!🤞🏽💖

As an extension specialist this made me 😬😬😬😬 alcohol on the hair nooo! Sally Beauty supply sells a bond remover- it can be any bond remover, it doesn't have to be tape extension specific. You can also use a NONE acetone nail polish remover in a pinch. I've even used hair oil and used conditioner, but you have to stick the comb through the bond first so the oil can seep into the glue, and using these generally takes a lot more work to get them out. For the most part hair/beauty supply stores open to the public generally carry extension removers. Alcohol just kills your hair 😫
