It’s great that you’re showing both manual and machine compounding. But before I even get to that, I’d use an iron fallout remover and a separate tar remover on the pain before claying, otherwise I feel like I dropped the clay bar on the ground.

How about a video that work from clay all the way to wax? I mean from the beginning of the detailing to the last stage of detailing in 1 video. Personally I don't mind for information to all in one video. And if you can do it on a white car that will be great too. Keep up the good work and stay safe. Cheerio

I know the video is only for demo reasons. If you are a serious detailer I recommend gloves to keep the chemicals from getting on the skin and some sort of face mask or 3m half mask with dust filtration to avoid the compound dust entering the lungs. No one really knows the long term effects these products have on the body. Oh and safety glass have saved me more than once.

great video guys. can't beat a bit of Ult. Compound. Not sure i like using QD etc as lube, as you may not want to put protection on the paint, if you need to polish/compound.

A lot of people say to use QD, but I normally just use soap and water, that way I dont get a protective coating like you say.

a few things that i've been meaning to ask; if you're washing your car in a wash box, can you do the claying and compounding process after you get back home? and can an iron remover replace the claying process?

Original clay is for some people quite a thing to deal with, which is why Meguiar's developed the pad with clay. This way everyone can enjoy a smooth paint job. The difference between a clay bar and the clay pad is that you can remove more with normal clay than with the clay pad. But that is no longer the case. In combination with the clay pad and the Ceramic detailer, you can now more easily remove as much residual plaque from your paint as with the clay bar. Good luck to get your paint smooth and shiny!

It's certainly different! The ceramic clay is great for longevity as the pad can simply be wash out and used again whereas if you drop a clay bar it needs to be thrown away. Both work fantastically to remove the above surface contaminants.

Good stuff, but why use ceramic detailer before polishing? It's a waste of protective product and you need to work harder to remove it during polishing.

The only way you can use the synthetic pad is with the high lubricity of the detailer. Its primary focus is to remove above surface contaminants before the compound and polish stage.

One thing I don’t fully get, you say if you drop the clay on the floor and it picks up even one speck of dust it will cause swirls, but aren’t you effectively doing the same thing when you’re rubbing it around the car? If it picks up some contaminant half way through claying a section aren’t you just rubbing that all over the rest of that section?

A speck of dust is not really the issue. The problem would be larger grains like sand, rocks, etc. For the most part these types of contaminants will have been washed off during the washing process that happens before claying. Also keep in mind that is why you are lubricating heavily with the Quik Detailer when using the clay bar. This is not a rule that is set in stone. Could, in theory, you drop the clay bar in some situations on some surfaces and still proceed to use it? Yes, that could in theory work, but the safe bet is to simply knead'fold the clay to cover that spot or simply use another clay bar. Really just depends on the risk you feel comfortable with. Many of the best detailers will simply use anther clay bar to avoid the possibility of inducing scratches.

I was going to use a glaze filler which fills the swirl marks out which isn’t a swirl remover. How would you rub that In by hand , In circles or straight lines?

You can apply the Ultimate Compound by hand absolutely. The most important thing is to try and replicate the heat that a DA would produce. If you work in a cross hatch motion then you can keep track of where you've been.

The ceramic detailer is a smooth detailer that also keep your paint beading. Traditional quick detailer don't make your paint beading.

Dodo Juice is highly recommended on the detailing forums. Fairly inexpensive too.

@@karolisrum6573 beading is a process on your paint what you want. This way you ensure that Rainwater with acids slides off your paint faster. Once you've polished your car, you'll want to keep that smooth finish. Yet dirt accumulates against your car, this cannot be prevented. By using the ceramic edition you help the dirt to slide off your paint a lot easier because your car becomes super slippery.
