Good video to the point and not a lot of extra crap. My question is does that system affect performance at all or does it simply capture vapor from the tank?
@Shitbox_connoisseur4 жыл бұрын
As long as it's operating correctly a vapor/evappration/charcoal canister will not negatively effect perfomance.

Hey man. So I watched your video and decided to take off the California bs too. Super easy and a great video. Only question I have is what did you do with the plug that plugged into the solenoid? I wrapped mine in electrical tape and zip tide it in a good place. Only problem now is my engine light came on and it says P0444, something to do with that plug? What should I do? If I would have known that I have to see that engine light shit I would have just left it all hooked up. Can’t reinstall it bc I cut the lines to shit.

After I bought my car I was trying to figure out why it got better gas mileage in all other states and countries than it did in California, then I found out it was their extra emissions crap that had no busiess being on the car. Removed it all, better gas mileage. Is it malice or stupidity?

I removed mine off my 2010 super glide but didn't remove the solenoid. I didn't even know there was one? At the time all the videos I could find said cut the lines and plug the one behind the fuel injection. It worked fine never had any issues at all.
@GraniteCityRiders6 жыл бұрын
They didn't always have a purge valve solenoid on the Dyna's... not sure which year they started using the valve. Maybe it was after 2010.
@Doctoberfest6 жыл бұрын
My 2010 FXDB does not have the solenoid either. Just routes from tb and tank to canister to atmosphere.

At 02:43 in your video, the solenoid you are removing from your Dyna only has two tubes connected to it. Mine has a cable that connects to the port by the two hoses. Thoughts?

Great video thanks. What did you do with the plug that goes into the solenoid?
@GraniteCityRiders7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jamie. Good question. I cut the plug off, capped the wires with a little heat shrink and tucked them away.
@travismccarty5153 жыл бұрын
Did you remove the solenoid completely? I did and I keep throwing a code, so I had to dumpster dive for it... Im gonna cap it and stick it back in should that keep it from throwing the code?
@AngelRodriguez-kn3zr7 жыл бұрын
Hey man, saw the comment below bout how you used a heat shrink for the plug that goes into the solenoid. Did that prevent the engine light from coming on? I bought my 2017 FXDLS in CA when I got back to AZ I took off the "California Emission B.S" but I had to plug back in the solenoid with no hoses because the check engine light would stay on.
@GraniteCityRiders7 жыл бұрын
Hi Angel, I didn't get any check engine light or any ill effects from removing the solenoid on a 2014, or 2013 FXDB. No harm in leaving the solenoid in place with no hoses attached. Sounds like a good solution.
@AngelRodriguez-kn3zr7 жыл бұрын
I was thinking of using a heat shrink like you did and tucking it anyway but if you said it would cause no harm to the bike I may just leave it the way it is. Thanks for replying.
@CallaFab6 жыл бұрын
I just did this to my '16 Street Bob and the check engine light did come on. It didn't come back on after I plugged the solenoid back in. At least it is hidden behind the coil.
@FourbrrlGrabber3 жыл бұрын
Why would you want to remove a vapor canister. ? The fuel vapors can be captured or they’ll just stink like a fuel leak and go in to the air. I’m looking to put one on my bike. If anyone wants to dump theirs, I’ll take em !!

Thanks for the video! I have a question that I was hoping you could help me. Recently I had to replace my carburetor from a 2002 Harley Davidson Sportster 883. The issue is I cannot buy a direct replacement and bought a knockoff one that lacks the vacuum tube. My petcock has a vacuum tube so I obviously would need to buy a non vacuum petcock and install the new carburetor. By switching to a non vacuum line would I have to get rid of the California solenoid and vapor canister?
@quezvisions75386 жыл бұрын
2:34 removing the remaining tubes... mine has a wire connected to that as well. I was removing it but where would that connection go after that. I’m wondering if that makes the engine light go on from other comments. Thanks dude
@quezvisions75386 жыл бұрын
Tony Lam what I did was I kept it, and tucked it into the back with the cable from the pipes and zip tied them all together. It Looks flush. Cleaner. At least the canister is gone.
@quezvisions75386 жыл бұрын
Tony Lam yeah I kept the block since it had a wire connected to it. It’s small so I tucked it behind where it was connected. I trimmed all cables except the tube behind the air cleaner. I rode a couple hundred miles to see if anything different would happen. So far so good.

I just did this mod on my 14’ dyna super glide, it’s best to leave the little block behind the coil pack to prevent the engine light coming up and make sure you cap off both nipples like the throttle body

That canister recirculates vapors from your tank back into the intake so they are burned.
@charkswitlazers Жыл бұрын
Not needed. Vent vapors to the atmosphere and allow the fuel injection system to control how much fuel is sent to the engine for ignition.

@GraniteCityRiders6 жыл бұрын
+Hey Jon, sorry to hear about your troubles. For 49 state models the solenoid just isn’t there- and there is a cap on the vacuum port on the throttle body. So this mod shouldn’t create a problem. What code is your bike throwing?
@leorobles98856 жыл бұрын
Great. I just this as well. But I retain the solenoid still in its original place. I notice the plug as soon as I moved the coil out of place. Hope I don't get a check light regardless. Wish me luck.

It's ugly. It is added as an afterthought only to California Harleys. Literally hangs off the front of the frame. Also adds two hoses that run up the frame on the front of the bike. At the end of the video you can see I added a chin... this is not possible without removing the vapor can. On the 2018's, they did a better job of integrating the vapor can into the design.

I just took mine off. Charcoal everywhere. It's meant to "clean" the air going into your tank via the intake system. But in reality, you fragments of charcoal going into your intake and your gas tank.
