My HP Envy M6 is different. There's a screw on the bottom in the middle of the cover over the hard drive. Once I removed that screw, I pushed the battery release button and the hard drive cover came off with a little prying using a plastic tool.

Is the m6-n113dx worth upgrading the RAM and changing to SSD? How would it perform compared to 2021 or even 2020 competitors?

Hello TRCRacing. In my opinion it is not worth to upgrade the RAM. It comes with 6 GB of RAM and can be upgraded to a maximum memory capacity of 16GB Memory. You have to remove the existing RAM sticks in order to add two 8 GB sticks to the laptop. Doing so would give you certainly a better performance, but the replacement of the hard drive with an SSD would give you a real performance boost. Of course you could upgrade the RAM to 16 GB and install an SSD. This would be the max performance boost you can get with hardware upgrades, but I suggest only to replace the hard drive.
