There's a trick to get the inside door handle off after removing the two screws. Put a thin plastic tool blade under the back bottom edge of the black handle and twist the tool. It might take three or four tries, but pulling out the tool quickly from under the bottom of the handle with a twist and the handle will fly off.

Had the same issue. This same process can be done while the door is shut. You will have less room to pull the panel from the door but it’s accessible

have you done any 1990 back door panels the top of mine sticks out a little and the left frount panel is abit tight the electric window motor makes hard work of it going up but not down

That first latch panel is a pain to sort out. Thanks. I have a 2006 Haynes manual and a 2007 subie. The manual shows the screw but NOT the plastic cover over it. grrrrrrr! Also, I always trust a mechanic with forearm scars. ;-)

James McFarland that will be hard to do if you can’t open the door. You could try taking the door off the car that may give you a little bit a room to be able to unlatch it from the inside
