I had hundreds of files that needed renaming, and thought “There’s got to be an App that does this.” And then lo and behold, I tripped over your KZbin video that showed I already “had” the App with Windows and Excel! Oh my gosh, this is amazing! I needed to batch rename 125 files that had TWO sequential numbers in them, and wasn't sure if even a batch rename app existed to do this. Despite knowing the ren command, I never would have considered using a spreadsheet to create the commands in bulk! Thank you!

This is a very smart method, thanks for posting this! Like most comments, you have saved me a big headache, I was trying to get AI to write a script to accomplish this with mixed success. To others, ***if you want to do this on macOS,*** it works too. Just copy and paste a group of files intoTextEdit after selecting "Format, Make Plain Text" from the menu to make the file list, and copy/paste into Excel. Then in terminal, use the "mv oldFileName newFileName" command to rename the files, in the same method as the video. (in the correct path). Paste the column into terminal. Wow thanks!

Wow! just WOW! You are my HERO! I love organizing my files so I usually rename them (especially downloaded files with so many extra characters) so it will be neat and consistent. Though my fingers are fast on keyboard, renaming hundreds of files is still tedious. I finally decided to search whether bulk renaming is possible without using 3rd party apps.
