Thank you for taking the time explaining this intricate process..... I have a massive Webb in my head trying to learn how to use Premire Pro. I am totally green and have spent more time crying because I don't understand why I keep losing my files and the clips get bounced around (out of place on their own). So Ive been using the rending in and out for several days and now without any problems, but today it's not showing up on the sequence panel. Every time I walk away and save the file it's never the same when I open it back up.

Thank you for the sequence settings clarification! After Effects is killing me, so slow with Effects that I'm going to export prores prerenders and just edit in Premiere.. which is the way it should be done for large files but sometimes you just want to do it in one. Definitely not the case if you want to render fast.

Not sure if Im missing something but i think it could've been made much clearer that this Use previews hack is only for those who're about to export in ProRes 422 codecs (i always export in h.264 or HEVC). Like on the export process diagram you made, its written (i.e. h.264 mp4) under the "export" step, saying that the render step of exporting can be skipped if you've already rendered previews, I find that pretty misleading. I suppose what i want to know is what is the use case for this, and if not exporting in prores 422 then is rendering previews actually useful, like if not increase export speed then whats the purpose other than high quality playback? Like an example u gave is for drafts, to show a client after making a change, but if you export using prores422 you'll have a massive file lol so thats not ideal for sharing with your client cuz it'll take ages to upload. If theres something i've missed feel free to enlighten me, I just confused as to why i'm not saving time like everyone else in the comments is.

This is a great! Is there a faster way to export my video ProRes 422 Proxy in Media Encoder? I have a 15 minute fully rendered video in Premiere then exported in Media Encoder. It looks like it will take 2 hours to export. In Media Encoder, I selected "use previews" and set to 1920x1080 /H.264/ Match Source-High bitrate. When I fully renedered my project in Premiere it took 1.5 hours. My sequence is set to ProRes 422 Proxy 1920x1080.

Thanks a lot for the video. Def helps. I chose 422 HQ for preview renders and exported with the same. The resulting file is huge 91GB for 14m. Can you share your process to go from QuickTime previews to H264 and still get the fast export times? I realize I can do my final export as H264, but when using the QuickTime previews that final render will be much longer. Maybe I need to select a preview file that is compatible with H264? Thanks a lot. Great channel.

So you said to have your previews as prores proxy, lt, or regular but you said to export your finals as hq? wouldnt your previews have to be is hq as well for this to work. Also do you have to have max bit depth and render qual. on in the previews to be able to select those options on export or can you leave them off on the previews and check them on export. Thanks so much. Also can you use prores previews and render h264 exports faster than having h264 previews and export h264? essentially do you still get the speed boost if you are using higher end previews and exporting lower or does it have to be check for check the exact same preview settings as output. I know this is a lot but I think it will help to fill some of the more specific questions.

Sorry some of what your are saying sound good with respect to resolution you want but if you are going from a 4k to 2k or 1k HD you want to use the highest ProRes 4444 XQ, because if you select something lower and say scale down then your lower res version will be of less quality even more. If that make sense. ... This is to say if you take a 4k ProRes 422 and then export to say 1K HD video vs a ProRes 4444 XQ you will see that the 1k ProRes scalar down from 4k 4444 XQ is much better quality than the 422 and the file size is relatively the same size (1K HD one).
