Hi J. Awesome series of videos. Learned a ton and cool tricks. I was trying the Noise and Variation technique. Correct me if I am wrong, but aiNoise piped to melanin as seen in your video (11:20) works with IGS only yes? I am using Xgen Core, and does not work for me if I change the coord space to UV. I suspect I would have to make a custom shader parameter for that to work correctly if I use the Xgen Core? Thanks.
@K1LLSW1TCH3D2 жыл бұрын
Ok, so adding a NoiseC or similar under Samples library in the custom shader parameter does the trick.

Hey J, can you please do a more dedicated Zmodeler tutorial showing your actual workflow of how you would tackle hard edged mech type stuff like the "Flex" girl's mech arm? I tried to follow along during that timelapse but there's a lot of jump cuts and lack of explanation for hard surface noobs like me. I've put off learning the hard edged/mech workflow until now, but with the introduction of the new Knife Brushes etc I'd love to know how industry pros like you now do it. (I know it's not your forte but I still prefer learning from you over many other artist who may be very technical but do not explain things very well)

Your Maya/Arnold tutorials are very valuable, it's likely that other Maya users feel the same. The sheer amount of Blender tutorials available compared to Maya tutorials is absurd..! Hey J ! Thank you for your videos they are very informative, i really like your formula ! I have a question about the interactive groom because i have a pretty heavy scene with a llama with full fur and a character on top with hairs, does the interactive groom make it hairs lighter in terms of ram cpu and gpu usage ? In other words, is it a good idea for me to convert all my hairs into an interactive groom when everything is ready? I guess i wouldn't be able to work on my guides and modifiers anymore after that. Thanks again for you work !!
@artofjhill2 жыл бұрын
Good question, I don’t notice a big difference myself and you can always reduce the CV count to lighten it then raise it to render. You can’t use guides, no. You can groom with brushes and layers though if you still wanted ti tweak stuff.

@@artofjhill Ok thank you, i'm asking because i don't know the reason why but maya give me a "out of memory" error when i want to see the full groom, but i have a rtx 3090, a 10900k and 64Go DDR4, so there's obviously something i'm doing wrong. This is awesome, I especially appreciate the node part. I did many tests with the render settings and found out that bumping up specular samples instead of camera AA gave me nicer results in less time, if you didn't already, give it a try. BTW, lately I'm having huuuuuge problems with xgen, arnold and batch render, where it renders just a bunch of frames (sometimes just one) and then the batch stops. Did you encounter this situation rendering your turntables? If so, did you find a solution? Again, thanks for the top tier content (as usual)
@artofjhill2 жыл бұрын
thanks, I'll remember the spec tip. I use render sequence in the render menu, not batch. I've never had problems. Make sure the right project is selected and the paths are all good. If a renderview render works, so does the sequence in my experience.
