Everything you do is the same as my repair methods. The only difference is I clamp the hoop to a drum head in 6 to 8 places to keep the hoop dead flat and in round. I took delivery of a bass drum today and the hoop was broken in 4 spots. 2 clean through resulting in a 5” section of the hoop broken off. The other 2 areas are broken 4” from one end and 14”. Each break goes all the way through but it seems like they’re each hanging on by a few internal plies. These 2 repairs will be the trickiest. I really need to do all 4 repairs at the same time otherwise the hoop won’t lay flat and be in round. Of course I’m hoping the seller will partially refund me for a brand new hoop as the bass drum is a 9.5/10. People need to learn how to pack drums for the torture they endure during shipping.

That sounds like a nasty break indeed! And I agree it drives me nuts when people can't ship things correctly!! That would solve and prevent sooo many issues and problems!

@@ZackZweifelYes! Now the seller is completely ghosting me. I only asked for a partial refund of $200. He replaced 10 of the correct Tama claws that were in the listing pictures with some other brand so I have to replace those on top of replacing the hoop. Tama wants $260 for a Gloss Black hoop! I repaired one section and it looks good. However I want to make the other repairs in one shot so I’m building a jig that will apply pressure from inside the hoop while I use a band clamp from the outside. What would be perfect is a clamp that mimics our 2 hands grabbing the hoop and pressing the broken ends together without the need for drilling holes.
