how to repair a old omax watch? servicing AS cal.2066 movement

That was one filthy movement! You pronounced my name just fine, thanks for the shout out. I'm happy to help, I just hope you don't think I'm being nasty, I love watching you work. I'm just a hobbiest, but I've been working on watches for years. I was wondering if you lubricate the keyless works off camera? If not, you really should. The posts like the one the yoke pivots on should be greased along with anywhere metal rubs on metal such as the little slot the yoke sits in the sliding pinion & where the sliding pinion meets the clutch wheel, where the spring meets the yoke & the grooves where the setting lever spring engages with setting lever, the post of the setting wheel & minute wheel,etc. Lastly, some grease on the winding stem before you insert it into the movement, just a tiny bit spread over it. To make winding smoother. Just to reduce friction. Enjoyed the video, looking forward to the Seiko.

Thanks for the advice 😊 will oil be good enough compared to grease (I don't have any type of grease now).. I'll definitely start lubricating stem parts😊

@@watchwizard Lubrication on keyless work is much more forgivable compare to say the escapement and the chain of wheels. But in order to provide best performance and prevent even just a small chance of wear and damage to the parts, manufacturer and watchmaker request lubricant on keyless work and cannon pinion as well. Basically you want to use grease on high friction metal sliding on metal parts. The reason why we use grease instead of oil is because grease will stay in place where we want it to be while oil will spread all over and can even end up in place you don't want it to be. Moebius 9504 is considered the best grease out there, but if price is a thing then I recommend molykote DX.

@@watchwizard yes sir! D5/Mobius 1300 will work fine as well, but grease is preferred. As mentioned above by Son Vu, molycote dx works great & is relatively inexpensive. I got a jar that would probably last me 5 lifetimes in watchmaking, for about $20usd.

Hi, I have the similar watch in working condition: Omax 25 Jewels, Crystal, 3 Star Automatic. Can you please explain why is the watch called as 25 Jewels? Do those jewels relate to Purple Stones/Jewels used in the watch mechanism ? Would be really thankful if you can let me know. Regards.

Mostly of time automatic watches have 20+ jewels whereas manual winding will have 17 jewels... I have copied this information from Google, hope this helps...Jewels, or jewel bearings, are synthetic rubies or sapphires that are set into different parts of the watch movement. They are designed to help reduce friction in the moving parts. Their design provides a hard surface that allows the metal components to move freely. Ti prego, tra tutta l'attrezzatura che comprende il corredo di un orologiaio, le più importanti, sono tre cose: il monocolo di ottima qualità, perchè questo ti protegge la vista nel tempo, i cacciaviti e le pinzette.
