The dog is laying on that couch as if to see, "WHEW! We worked so HARD on this! I need a breather." 🤣 Nice work. I wanted to know how to refinish veneer.

I just bought a used dining room set. It was not until it was actually in place in my dining room that I noticed the veneered top had raised grain in places. It needs polyurethane in future for protection against water damage, but following your directions, I believe that now I can refinish safely. Thanks for the info!

When that dog heard he was using 80 grit on a veneer, he was all, “I’m outta here.”

Nice job and result. Why spray urethane instead of liquid? Also - do you steel wool between urethane coats?
@Rixster12173 жыл бұрын
No, he didn't. He didn't sand well enough between coats because that finish is way to bumpy. Using steel wool between coats will give you a really smooth finish, just be sure to wipe it off really well.

Nice video! I have a veneer table where the veneer has chipped off a bit in a few places. I was thinking to seal it somehow to prevent further chips. What can I use?
@hswoodshopteachermr.benede91412 жыл бұрын
Really without seeing it, the best thing I can think of is a thin coat of clear epoxy. It will be like putting a thin layer of clear plastic on it. You can buy a small kit at your local home goods store like Home Depot. I have had good results with a brand called Famowood.
If I took my orbital sander with an 80 grit paper- would help me remove the stain from a wood veneer without destroying it? I don't have a wood cabinet scrapper
@Greenfrom33 жыл бұрын
Any update? Lol
@wilderunner093 жыл бұрын
@@Greenfrom3 I ended up using a chemical stripper and skipped the sander all together. Any light sanding I did by hand.

I would be hesitant to use 80 grit on veneer. You could try oxalic acid and but put it all over the top and wipe down with water after the suggested amount of time.

This is good for low value pieces. Do not do this on antiques!
