Same seats that are in my TT Mk2. Since I'm not rich and the car is not worth 80,000$, I wasn't ready to spend that much money on leather repair. I found a product online called Belino Cuir and ordered the black version. I was hesitant to use it though. I left it on the shelf for almost a year. But finally decided to try it on the lower part at the back of a seat (just in case it was crap and I couldn't fix the disaster). Turns out it worked very well and is very easy to use! It's a kind of fast drying gel. You put the stuff on the cracks and then wipe it down with a cloth. If you put too much and it is visibly different from the surrounding leather, you rub on it hard with the cloth. And as a last resort, you apply a bit of Windex on a rag and wipe it down. But it mostly worked very well for me and my seats look good. Not like you see in this video of course. But all the cracks and the discoloration are gone. It even died the thread back to black. Important: Before you start, you must remove any dirt or leather conditionner and the leather need to be dry. Also, when you're finished, apply a decent quality leather conditionner over all of your seats, especially where you re-dyed your leather. 4.5/5 for the ease of use and 5/5 for the value for the price. That was the only thing that was bugging me about my car interior and in the end I could have fixed it a while ago for 15$ and 2 hours of work. I should have done this way sooner!

After a few months heavily used parts like the seats show always worn parts. On other parts like the arm rest everything is fine.
@Ronke013 жыл бұрын
Never heard of Fibrenew here in Europe. Over here it's Leather Repair Company and Colourlock. You shouldnt just sand the leather with straight up sandpaper. Use red Scotch pads, which are also a 320 grit and a solvent to break through the topcoat but it will not damage the grain as much as straight up sanding it will.

That proprietary device is just taking a photo. There are apps for translating photos to a hex or RGB number. Amazing! But what if there is red stitching ?
@nickdanger62843 жыл бұрын
I'm in the same business. I end up cutting masking tape freehand with an Olfa knife approximately 1/16 inch wide and covering the stitches. It's tedious but makes a huge difference to protect even same colored seams. This step is done after thorough cleaning. Also, don't sand the stitches! So, preparation is the key. 1st . Blow out and clean thoroughly 2. Do whatever repair you need, avoiding stitches. 3. Lightly sand rough leather finishes. 4. Repeat 1- 3 as needed 5. Protect all areas around the seats from overspray with drop cloths, tape and paper. If the tape won't stick, either the surface is not clean or the stitches are still too wet. Dry them with clean towels or move onto something else while they dry. Once you tape the stitching you can't be aggressive with wiping or sanding. The tape is the last step before spraying the dye. 6. Mix your color and apply some and dry it to check color match. If you're satisfied, spray light coats and let dry. Sand lightly in 1 direction , wipe or blow air to remove debris and continue your dyeing process until satisfied. You can add texture too during this process. Take times and it will be worth it
