If you put the screws behind where the weatherstripping goes, you do not have to patch the holes because the weatherstripping would hide those.

Lowe's sells a kit that's 8" tall--jamb piece and door stop. It's $79 for 2 x 4 constructed walls. My door frame and door stop is rotted just about the same with the brick molding rotted up about 5-6 inches too. Mine is a exterior garage door with window and blinds inside the window. A new 36" door that's exactly the same is over $600 last time I checked. Ridiculous.........

why don't you install a sill pan when replacing the rotted jam and sill? I believe that a sill pan is required by code.

I couldn't wait to check out the comments because people can be mean. Since no one even has constructive remarks I feel obliged to add a note. -A new frame cuts this work in half and looks much better -In the event where this is a weird or historic door frame, you would make the frame on a table saw with waterproof or water resistant board that will never rot again. -When cutting any trim that will get rain, you cut it at a 45 deg, so the rain will not attack the joint. -composite & aluminum threshold is a must -Silicone the ground under the threshold, water will run under the door when you spray off the patio. Nevermind all of this if you are looking for job security, put this customer in your calendar for another jamb rot fix. This wasn't the first time, the wood that you cut out had your prior repair.

If I was the owner, I would be furious if I saw that oversized threshold! I'm no expert but it sure looks like that install will eventually result in that interior floor rotting or getting water damaged because of that overhang in the threshold piece.
