My patches have been so embarrassing. I had no idea how people did it correctly. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

These patch fixes are all well and good. The challenge is painting the fixed wall afterward to match the existing color. Some folks are lucky enough to actually have left over paint from a previous wall painting job and some people still have the sticker with the paint mix on it. But many times there is no paint to simply paint over the fix and you have to repaint the entire wall.
@Painmaster2124 жыл бұрын
I had that problem myself so I took a piece of the paint that had came off down to Lowes and they had some software that was able to perfectly match it for me. Of course mine was dry wall and I was able to tear a small piece off that had peeled from some mounting tape being placed over it but it worked for me and I will keep a copy of the paint color to always know what the exact color is.

I called DAP and they said do not use sparkle and joint compound together, the joint compound will not adhere to sparkle long term. When I asked the question on google, the answer was pretty much the same do use both together.

I’ve always run into some inconsistent results with DryDex, some of the sparkled spots bulged after painted on, really cannot figure what caused the swelling. I was told that swelling means moisture in it, but I already have 2, to 3 coats and each coat was separated by almost a day. Wondering if anyone has experienced the swelling with painting on spot with DryDex?

Very nice video you made it look so easy. I made a mistake before watching your video. I put on 2 thick layers of mud and then a layer of spackle. I didn't sand in between layers and now that everything is sanded down it's too thick. I can definitely tell where the existing ends and the patch job starts. Is there a simple way to fix this?
@minthillbilly6 жыл бұрын
Not really an easy fix. You will have to sand down all the excess compound. Then do a final skim of compound. Once that drys you should be able to final sand before paint.

But now the patch is paper thin compared to the surrounding drywall. You could easily poke a finger through it.
@JoseyMorton856 жыл бұрын
Most patches are made up of a wire mesh for this reason. They're fairly strong and resistant to puncture.
