Well. I have the same problem with my dvd. I already got one from a friend but i want to try to diy the faulty one. Well i hav a question. Can you replace the 1628 ic with a pt6964 ic? Well from the internet i see that they are quite simmilar but i just wanna be sure before starting the job. Electronic spares are really rare here where i live and when you find some, usually their prices will discourage you in repairing stuff rather than buying a new one. And what is the instrument you are using to remove the ic?? Is it hot air blower? Or the soldering iron itself??
