Yes, the white pin that gets pushed when pot gets hot it should push it downward . It's laying inside the housing . Very informative. I'm 67 and still learning. First time to take one apart. Great job 👍

My kattle got leaking outside after fix new thermostat.. must put anything...or got any option sir?

Nice video but can’t find anywhere that sells just a pin, does the pin vary from make to make, do you buy a whole new thermostat and for that price and effort you could buy a new kettle.

Hey great video thanks. Btw do you know what the white grease is? And what it is for ?
@vc2002910 ай бұрын
It's called thermal paste. It helps in heat transfer.

There are 2 plastic pins but you lost the small white one, really great electrician you are, look your video by yourself. The other is for added security. Look 3.05

I have this exact problem...but where do you buy a new thermostat pin???? Edit: And at 3:08 - my kettle does not have a screw there, but has a little rivet instead that cannot be unscrewed....:(
@galtatlas22524 жыл бұрын
Have the "rivet" also, it"s a threaded rivet to be exact, use a small needle nose pliers that can grab the head of the rivet and turn it anti-clockwise while pilling up slightly. You can also try prying up the rivet with a small flat blade screwdriver just enough to get a purchase on it with the pliers. To re-install, just insert and turn it clockwise with slight downward pressure. When you get to the point you can't thread it in anymore with the pliers, tap it down the last few millimeters with the back of a screwdriver or punch, making sure the thermostat disc is aligned properly.

Galt Atlas Thank you for your response. I still have my (favorite) kettle sitting on the counter, waiting to be repaired. So, there’s a solution to the rivet. Now, is there a solution to the new thermostat pin? Have you ever been able to find one???
@galtatlas22524 жыл бұрын
@@Inisfad No prob, unfortunately, or fortunately, my problem wasn't a damaged pin as in the video, it was a corroded contact. The issue i had when i turned on the kettle, it would blink once quickly and turn off. If i had a similar damaged pin situation, i may have tried using the inner portion of a small plastic rivet or a very thin plastic dowel/rod and see if i could have gotten it down thin enough to get through the hole to depress the spring on the underside. I would like to know also where i can source the OEM pin, in case i need one in the future.
