It's much easier to remove plugs by inserting a screw a few threads deep and then using a claw hammer to pull the screw and attached plug free.

That's a good option if the wall plugs are not to tightly in the hole. Mine were really tight and I had to resort to using long nose pliers...

I like to recess the plug about 1/8" below the surface of the wall, then fill over it just a bit proud to allow for shrinkage. Often enough, one good pass will suffice. Walls are textured where I'm at, so it's a little more forgiving.

Once you’ve done the fine filler, should you lightly sand it again before painting to make sure it’s really smooth or is that not necessary because of the fine filler?

You can sand flat if the filler raises about the wall surface. I try to fill and scrape flush to avoid sanding. I find this is quicker... thanks How2everystep.com

Was it really necessary to film pulling all 6 plugs out, I ended up falling asleep and never saw step 2

Just forward across, I find that much easier. Or put the speed of the video up, which is my fave way especially when they're not talking over. I think KZbin want a minimum of 9 to 10 min long vids for monetary benefits. Don't quote me on that though.
