hello my compressor just like this one keeps blowing its glass fuse has anyone had a problem like that?
@JOEZEP543 жыл бұрын
Hello dennis anderson, Thank you for stopping and your support. I have not had this problem so I am just putting some ideas out. Could be a short in the wiring, if you are using an extension cord that is too long & not the right gauge that will usually trip the circuit breaker but maybe the fuse in this case. Maybe something jamming up? How long does it run & what tool are you using on it? I will pin your comment so it is seen on the top of the comments so others will see it & possibility be of help. When you find the cause let us know. Stay safe, Joe Z

Did you find the problem? Does it blow when you use enough air for it to restart and build pressure back up? If so, I would suspect one way check valve that is supposed to keep pressure off the piston so it starts back with no pressure in the cylinder, if I am not mistaken.

I had the exact problem you did in the video. I could feel air coming from under the plastic shroud. The place the manufacturer recommends said it was a blown piston. About $150 to repair. Not worth it. I found this video and did what you did and the compressor is making air again! Thanks you saved me the cost of a new one. I will eventually pick up some brake line and a couple of brass compression fittings. This will happen again but for now, fixed is fixed! THANKS!

Thank you so much for this helpful video! I have the exact same model of compressor, and it failed in the exact same way. It's funny how that happens! Home Depot had the exact parts you showed, and thank you for showing the parts that you used. That makes it much easier for those of us who are unfamiliar with the details of individual plumbing parts to get the right ones. I was able to slightly round off the corners of the aluminum tube to make it fit, and with a little mechanical persuasion, it all went back together with the new fittings. It is holding pressure just great. It goes up to 100 pounds, shuts off just great, and is working like new. Thank you again!

Thank you for stopping by. If it is not the tube like this video check the simplest thing first. Is the drain valve completely closed & not leaking? Next remove the air hose, it could be leaking. Next check the quick release, sometime they leak. If all is ok you may have a gasket under the compressors head that is blown or an issue with the reed valves. Let me know what you find. Do you know if that model has an air filter? Mine is slowing down a bit and it's probably 5-6 years old so that's to be somewhat expected but I was wondering if it's maybe just a clogged filter. There was nothing about a filter in the manual.

@JOEZEP542 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe, it could be the drain valve on the bottom of the tank, or the quick release where you attach the hose. On mine I have to have the outlet side closed until the tank fills or it will take a long time to fill. Let me know if this is of help. Stay safe, Joe Z

@@JOEZEP54 both those connections and every time I have to put parts together I use teflon tape and always drain water out of the bottom with soapy water I can easily see if either place there was bubbling leaking air drives me crazy I'm so OCD can't even hear the hiss would bother me whatever happened happened quickly last week when I used it to air up my bike tires it was fine it had been seeming like it's running a little bit long to build that pressure but when I did I never heard a hiss. As I said when it's running it's too loud to hear his coming from it and it's not building up any pressure I think I'm going to take the compressor off of the tank mounted to a board and splice my air hose onto it forgetting the gauge is completely just go for minimalistic and function savings space. I can always use a tire gauge and I use one anyway when I'm done airing anything up. Your reply and your time I thank you for very much. 👍😁

Bayou Flats, I did not run into this problem ( yet ). I had exhaust fans that would run fine but every so often I would have to go roof top & give them a spin to get them going until I changed out the motors. I was told they had a "dead spot" & when the motor stopped on it they needed a spin to get going again. Do you have to push the reset button to get yours going? If so it may be the rectifier. It can also be the pressure switch. Not being an electrician I am giving you my best guess. Really not too much to these compressors but be careful they can still give a BIG bite. Let me know if this was of any help & how you got it going again. Be Safe, Joe Z

I have a similar 3gal pancake compressor that will build air, but as soon as it's at full pressure and I try to fill a car tire to 35psi, the tank pressure drops like a rock. As you know, it takes forever to reach full tank pressure again, so it can take an hour to get air into a tire. Even if I set the hose pressure to the max, it still dumps all the tank air quickly without filling the tire. Any idea what causes that?

@@JOEZEP54 I peered into the openings where you can see the motor shaft enter the pump, and saw the 5 small holes at the 6 o'clock position that the air is drawn from- No filtering for the air aside from the small holes; best for longevity not to run it in a dusty environment. I sprayed a bit of lube into the intake and let the pump pull it in to coat the reed valves internally, and it dropped the charge time to cut off by 20 seconds. My compressor starts working and builds pressure up to 150psi but sometimes during work it will not start and won't keep tank charged. Sometimes it turns on only for a few seconds then goes quiet. Sometimes I hears something that it wants to start like air going somewhere through the pipe for about 2 second and then quiets and stays like that. Fails to keep up pressure in tank when I use it. Pressure goes low as 50psi but compressor doesn't start. Then I had to open drain valve to release remaining air pressure in the tank. Disconnect it from AC power for few minutes and it starts working again build up to 150psi again. I don't hear any air leaks. What could be wrong?
@JOEZEP542 жыл бұрын
It sounds like it has to do with the regulator/pressure switch ( maybe called something else). You may want to check the reed valves. Something could be malfunction there. When the compressor does not turn on is it after it has run for a long period filling the tank then won't come back on once the tank calls for more pressor?

I just got a broken one for free. I hope this is the issue.

Always nice to get a free tool. Sergio if it is running & not building up pressure also check the drain on the bottom, it may have just have loosened up from being hit or may have a bad oring. Also I once had a small leak at the quick release. Let me know how your repair went. Stay safe, Joe Z

I’ve only used mine like 3 times in the last year but now doesn’t seem to pass 60 psi. 😡
@JOEZEP549 ай бұрын
@robhtp3817, Thank you for watching. It may be something simple. Before taking it apart check all the connections, even a small leak will be an issue. Be sure to check the purge valve, there should be an O-ring or some washer there. Sometimes they go missing or just deteriorate causing a leak. My air chuck has a small leak, so when I am filing the tank I keep the air flow to it off until the tank fills. If none of this helps you may have a loose connection in the area that I show in this video. These are the usual leak locations. After only a few times used it should not be the reed valve but cannot rule it out if all else fails. @robhtp3817, I have other videos on my channel that cover different subjects and new videos added weekly that may also be of help or interest. Thank you for stopping by. Although I show how I make various types of repairs this is not an instructional video or channel. So there is more "chatting" then you may be looking for. Description Welcome to my channel. I originally intended to set it up for entertainment for family & friends and to help DIYers with some small engine repair tips. Stay well, Joe Z
