Roberto Beraldo, estou querendo fazer este reparo no sensor da minha moto também. Já troquei a peça três vezes e nunca se resolve o problema. Detalhe é que a minha moto só tem 7.200km. Por gentileza, se tiver paciência, poderia me explicar como eu removo o sensor do tanque de combustível? Não localizei nenhum passo a passo na internet explicando tal procedimento. @@Thiagoufrj06 E aí jovem, beleza? Seguinte, você tem que tirar as carenagens do tanque para depois retirar o tanque propriamente, nada complicado. Em baixo tem as conexões da bomba que devem ser retiradas antes de retirar o tanque. O sensor fica em baixo do tanque e só eh preso por uma tampa roscada. Infelizmente só sai tirando o tanque da moto.

Since you cannot see the readings he got after the repair, I will post mine. The sensor has 10 positions, and strangely reads the spots between as a very different set of values, almost like it is combining the the resistances of the two spots that is is between. I'm not sure whether it is supposed to do that or if mine is broken, but since it was so consistent, I am inclined to think it is normal. Here are the values with 1 being the "full" position, which is furthest from the mounting flange, and 10 being "empty", and closest to the flange. I am including the in-between positions as "1/2's". All values are in kilo ohms: Pos 1 (17.8), Pos 1.5 (9.07), Pos 2 (13.44), Pos 2.5 (5.40), Pos 3 (7.53), Pos 3.5 (3.7), Pos 4 (6.15), Pos 4.5 (2.79), Pos 5 (4.44), Pos 5.5 (2.02), Pos 6 (3.24), Pos 6.5 (1.50), Pos 7 (2.42), Pos 7.5 (1.11), Pos 8 (1.74), Pos 8.5 (0.69), Pos 9 (0.94), Pos 9.5 (0.42), Pos 10 (0.54) and open, or with the float away from the circuit board is 51.1. Hope this helps someone. I will also add that removing that potting compound to get the the screws in the mounting flange is an absolute nightmare. A dremel with a plastic/acrylic sidecutting bit is recommended, and you need to be very careful not to eat into the part in the center where the black plastic rises up (you can't see this until it's too late). Also, it is a T9 bit for the screws.

Resealing with potting compound is a difficult proposition at best, with leaks likely.

@@desmosoldier it's been holding for a month in freezing conditions so far without a so much as a drop. As long as it is fuel resistant compound, it should be fine. I use a product originally called Proseal which is used in aviation specifically as a fuel tank sealer.

I think this is the best YT video on the subject. I have a 916 with a different sensor: there are just two conducting stripes, so this failure is not possible for me. Incidentally a new sensor cost about 370 eu....

You have done a good job, my case the floater stuck so I skin it become smaller so the floater can move freely again.

Great job. There are 2 type of floater plastic and foam. Plastic never had a problem but foam had. I use sand paper to small it down and it’ll work like you said. I just wondering why Ducati still not fix it until now. 🧐

Yes, becareful. But if you accidentally drill it through, you can use epoxy to fix the hole. It'll work fine.

Very nice video thanks man👍 My mts1200 did the same error I will do this my own The interesting thing is why this solders get cracked in time. Normally solders dont get loose without too hot temp. The fuel temprerature is high to loose these solders wierd? Also after resolder it hope thats will be not a error again? When you finished the job did you cover epoxy again the top of the secrews ?

Solder can be cracked by vibration especially now in EU they've RoHS regulation that ban lead in solder. Lead free solder is weaker than lead solder. And yes I use silicone to cover screw holes.

My fuel sensor is weird, it shows full green bar, but the range is wrong, after full tank my range is 160km with full bar, should be 360km after a full tank, so I guess my fuel sensor is messed up? Hello, instead of repairing the fuel sensor, can I put a resistor across the connector contacts? I know this will make the fuel gauge useless but I do not care. Would you know the resistor value to use? Kind regards.

Yes you can do. Gauge will allways show fixed fuel level but no error show. The range of resistance is 50 kohm for full and 400 ohm for empty.
