I use Ceriglass and have some info/advice. 1st up, removing scratches from glass is tedious work. Too much heat could damage the glass. I did a small windshield using a buffer. Took 4hrs and not all scratches were removed. Heres how I do it. I use my G8 buffer with a 3in backing plate. I use Griots rayon pads. G8 is a DA. Make sure to keep the machine moving with a speed of around 2-3. Do NOT sit in 1 place digging at scratches!!!! When compound starts to dry, I give the pad a small squirt of water and the glass a small squirt and continue buffing. I've learned that scratches are VERY difficult to remove and most of the time none or very little will actually be removed. Check the OCD at the door. Never guarantee to remove ALL scratches. As far as doing it by hand, forgetaboutit. At best you'll just clean the glass. You'll never remove any scratches like that. Took me 4hrs with a machine. It'll take you 4months by hand and you still won't remove scratches. Just my 2 cents. Good luck

@@bigstick346 great advice. I appreciate you taking the time to mention that. I did end up getting a rotary buffer but the juice ain’t worth the squeeze at this point. My time is worth just getting the rear glass replaced. But I do need to pick up a DA for other polish work. You like the Griots?

I like both, G8 & G9. The 3in(G8) I found to be good for the glass. From the looks of your window, it looks gone. It's a little hard to see clearly, but from what I see, you're not getting those out. Change the glass and ceramic the window. Keep making videos. You probably answered someone newer than you, their curiosity/concern.

Removing scratches requires wet sanding from 500 grit up to 6000 grit then you can polish using a rotary with oxyde cerium (ceriglass). Otherwise nothing will happen.

Exactly you need to cut down the damaged layer. Ceriglass alone can't cut hard enough to remove deeper scratches. You're wasting your time if you're using only Ceriglass on a glass that was probably used 10-20 years.

By hand I’d really not expect it to polish so hard material like glass:( It’s more like an abrasive clean (water spots, stains, etc.)

I like to use scratch awl and then buff it with a 80 grit sandpaper all work yourself out to a 5000 grit diamond sanding stone and then put some fine grit dirt in the gaps and then glue that in place and after that if I don’t like I carry my sheep butt down and put a new piece of glass in the thing problem solved. But really if you mess with this at all you have to cot into glass which means it is very hard if not impossible to make it look right, you have a better change to just leave it alone and if it bothers still then try different things but be ready to make it look worse instead of better and then you will have to replace it like I did but I learned a lot about different polish’s and buffing methods and materials to buff with so if you have a bad piece of glass try it and learn from it so you can teach others and your own children how to do or not to do but of course the young people won’t believe you because they know it all and infact the young folks are to lazy know A days to do anything they don’t even know how to play or how to talk to people face to face most of them have never even been in a fight. Lots of love to them hopefully they will grow up one day because there future under there ideas of life is terrible and most of them will never own nothing because there to lazy to work and I don’t mean all of them when I was working I worked 60 hrs. A week to get ahead they work 30 or 32 hrs. Some wor less some might work 40 but that kind of hourly working will get you no where.

I'm interested if a rotary will make a bigger difference. Keep us posted!

Yes! Hoping to get that done soon!!

Waste of time... You need to cut down much more to remove scratches. Ceriglass would be used as last step not the first one. Start with glass cutting sandpaper + water or some paste specifically for cutting. It's gonna be a bit cloudy. Then lower sandpaper grit do the same one again and finish with Ceriglass for finishing touch.

Not using a machine would be…. Not so smart.

I think that you are ment to use a polishing machine for that stuf so you can budd out the scraches. No way a couple passes by hand could do something.
