These instructions are great, I loved the video. It should have pointed out though that electrical connections are the very first thing you ever check, as 99% of the time that's where the problem lies.

Great video, thanks a lot 👍👍 With these repair instructions we have already been able to eliminate 2 out of 3 sources of interference, now we need new wiring to check the old ones. Thanks a lot, cheers

Great video. Clear and informative. I have a multi gauge cluster which has 4 gauges on my 2008 Chaparral Signature. The water temp gauge isn't reading. Sensor is good. At least this gives me an idea of what to test now. Thanks!

It is very helpful (sometimes possibly necessary even) to have on hand alligator clip leads for your meter and at least one double ended alligator clip jumper 2-3 feet long.

Something remains not clear: after you switch off the electricity in the very beginning, how come you measure 13 V between positive terminal of the gauge and the ground?

if you turn off the power, how is there voltage at the guage?
@hansslob674910 ай бұрын
Switch off the power and measure if you have power? The post for the light is missing? No, it is internal connected. It doesn’t matter what you are reading when measuring the resistance? The resistance is printed on the sender, standard is 190 Ohm. Use crocodile clamps when measuring, the risk of short circuit will be less. If making this, do it right!

Great video, however how did you check the continuity in the wires from the tank t the gauge?
@jasonandrewismail20293 жыл бұрын
cool. any chance of a complete list of common, i.e only the essential gauges on a boat

you mention to begin shut off power; if so, how do you check if there is voltage at the pos and negative. also, why is the postive a black wire.... seems to make more sense to color code them??
@hernanf6159 Жыл бұрын
Helpful tip....help me found the sender's wire broken. Although i repaired it, and now is working, the gauge works in half of the scale....i'm talking about the tilt sender. Engine up, the gauge is full up, engine full down, the gauge is half of the way down, losing sensitivity for proper trimming. Any idea? Sorry for my lousy English!

Dont understand Step 1 is switching off power, but all the tests require power?
@m0cca19974 жыл бұрын
You didn't show how you did the continuity test for the sender wiring.
@Motrus013 жыл бұрын
For the purpose of the continuity test: locate the cable ends. Make sure you do not have any extra plugs in line. In this case disconnect the sender and the gauge cables. Set the multi meter to continuity and touch red and black together. (As per the demo in the video) Fit the multi meter black lead on one ended and the red on the other. You should have the same reading on the meter as touching the red and black directly. I do not like this test. It’s unreliable. You can have continuity in a cable that has many frayed or corroded wires. Best to carry out a volt drop test.

Hi .. The video said something about a previous "how to" on the vessel Bonding system. I have looked through all the video lists but can't seem to fine it. Can you tell me which one it is? cheers
@olddog574 жыл бұрын
I saw that "how to" video and of course I long forgot what it was about (but it was worth watching - that I do remember). It would be nice if they could make a kind of list for the purpose to getting back to such videos.

At the end of the video there is a link to the 'How to' playlist on Yachting Monthly's channel, or go to our KZbin home page. See if you can find what you need there.
