I use the Masters brush cleaner, Dawn Platinum too. After I dry them with shop paper towels, I use a fine tooth comb and comb them with a tiny bit of linseed oil.

Oh wow this stuff works great! I had no idea. I normally use liquid fabric softener on my dried on acrylics on my brushes. Soak them for 12-24 hours or so. And then clean with my pallet knife in the same fashion you're using here. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Kevin, I clean all my brushes with soap and water and have reshaped them like this with a paper towel for years now. My brushes are old and still in great condition. 💕 Also, If I have dried paint on a brush OR palette, 🎨I use "Easy Off Oven Cleaner". It only takes a minute or so for the all the paint to dissolve. (Do this outdoors). Then clean with soap and water, and reshape the brush if, or as needed. Like I said, I have done this for years. It really works. People say you can not do this with natural bristles, but I a living proof you can. I have videos on it. Using this method you do not have to scrape the bristles with a palette knife which weakens them. Give it a try. I think you will be impressed. 🌹🤗

On natural bristles only, I have used similar products and cleaners. Instead of the palet knife, I used a small steel bristle brush to separate and remove paint. I’m very old school in that I make things last till it can’t be used at all anymore.

Chelsea makes a really good product that uses lavender. All natural without all the harsh chemicals. And works really well

Thank you for this video I use rubbing alcohol but never thought to scrape off the excess with a pallet knife. Thanks again❤

Use a big blob of hand sanitizer and keep rubbing the brush back and forth in the hand sanitizer until it gets clean, renewing the hand sanitizer as needed. The brush comes out clean and soft as can be. I used it on my hands then decided to try it on my brushes that were ruined and voila it worked!! So cheap too

Hey Kevin there is a product I switched to called Bristle Magic (No harsh chemicals, natural ingredients) I soak the brushes after a painting session then soak in baby oil and wrap with a shop towel overnight. They are as good as new. For what you are cleaning Windsor and Newton is the best. :)

The masters Brush Cleaner and preserver also works quite well for just cleaning the brushes and keeping them looking like brand new
@Midnightquinn6 ай бұрын
But you have to use water with that. So how is Masters NOT hurting your brushes then?

I am not being sarcastic! I am asking a truly honest question. I keep hearing about how good it is but the water needed to clean it absolutely worries me.
@DedgyVanced6 ай бұрын
@@Midnightquinn it shouldn't - water is completely safe for your brushes and it can dry out. Even Kevin showed at the end of his video for the 2 inch brush, which is a natural bristle. I've washed natural bristles / synthetic ones with literal normal soap and wawter and i still use them to this day with normal wear and tear. After you wash it with the soap / water , you can wrap it in a napkin and while its wet, you can restore its shape and let it dry while wrapped in the napkin and when its dried out (usually after 12-ish hours just to be safe), it will function normally. Also im not sure if you know but you can use the same TYPES of brushes for acrylic and oil as well (not the same pair, types is the keyword) and since acrylic paint is water based, you need to wash those brushes in water to remove the acrylic paint lol

Per another video I watched a couple of years ago, I spray oven cleaner (like Easy-Off) into a Ziploc bag and put my brushes inside. Work the cleaner into the bristles (through the bag, don't touch the oven cleaner and try not to get too much on the ferrules). After about 10 minutes, you can rinse them off, reform them and wrap in paper towels. Leave them to dry and they're as good as new. Definitely wear rubber gloves though, you don't want to get the oven cleaner on your hands.

hey just thought i might add a tip for you all to try. try using a wire brush to help remove the dried paint after you've soaked it in thinners.
@terryberke86016 ай бұрын
Soaking a brush in Turpinoid Natural will also remove most dried paint. It has a pleasant smell but may not be as safe as they claim. Also a good method for reshaping synthetic brushes is to dip them in very hot water and then reshape with a cloth and wrap them up until they dry. Be careful not to burn yourself as the water needs to be boiling hot.

Please, I wish we learned how to draw the sea, water, or any of its conditions easily. The hardest thing for me is drawing water. Give us rules for water that will make us draw easily and realistically, please😭😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏
