I was having an efi pxe 0 ipv4 boot failed erroe. I followed the tutorial step by step completely and cleaned my legion 5 pro. I followed all the procedure except repasting, as I had no alcohol or thermal paste available. My laptop is relatively new, and the thermal paste is still relatively moist. I really appreciated the warnings and cautionary steps along the way, and the clear labelling of screws during disassembly as well as assembly. Fantastic video!

Great video, but I am having trouble at 22:40. It doesn't go all the way in (about half the white dot on it is still visible), even though it was all the way in before I pulled it out. The problem seems to be on the left side. I can also see a very small bump in the black plastic near the connectors left side, and the 'hole' all the way to the left (like the holes shown at 7:27 when you point the connector to the camera) seems to be bigger than the others. So I'm thinking it might be slightly deformed, and haven't yet tried turning the laptop on to see if it works when the battery is half connected. Is there anything I can do or do I have to take it to a repair shop? Thank you.

🫠Regarding your question, when you pulled out the jack, it went sideways and bent one of the pins in the connector. All you need to do is use tweezers to straighten the pin and insert the jack back in.

If the screw doesn’t come out, you may need to cut it. They are M.2 screws. @@uFixTekthank you very much for the quick answer, and sorry for my late reply. What I did is I bought a PH0 screwdriver with a proper handle (I was using a low-quality precision one before, and I couldn't get a good grip), after that it was easy, thanks to your clear instructions :) because one of my fans stopped working, I removed the heatsink and cleaned each of them, they now work, but because I will only receive the isopropylic alcohol next week, I didn't change the thermal paste. It was not dry, but should I put thermal paste on top or for 5 days should it be okay?

Hello! I have a question i’d really hope you could answer, I have a Lenovo legion 5 Pro that is currently reaching the thermal throttle limit on the gpu, before my cpu was heating a bit so I cleaned the fans, but I haven’t taken the heatsink out as I didn’t want to void warranty just yet, but after cleaning the fans and exhaust vents with compressed air, I noticed the cpu temps are now much more normal but the gpu goes to 85-86 degrees and stays there, I’d like to lower the temperature so that it doesn’t thermal throttle at least, what could I do? Should I clean the heatsink completely and void warranty? Is there any decent way to clean it without taking it out?
@uFixTek
@uFixTek 5 күн бұрын
🫠Regarding your question, if your GPU is hitting 85-86°C under load, that is acceptable because thermal throttling starts at 95°C. I do recommend replacing the thermal paste with a high-quality one. Also, when cleaning the fans, always disconnect them from the board. Otherwise, blowing them in reverse could damage the motherboard by generating voltage back to the board. cheers🍻

does this void the warranty?
@uFixTek
@uFixTek 2 ай бұрын
🫠Regarding your question, depending the country you live in, in usa you are protected by law and can service it, without damaging the laptop. In the United States, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 protects consumers from voiding their warranties simply for performing repairs or servicing their own products. According to this law: Manufacturers cannot void a warranty just because the consumer or an independent shop opened or repaired the product. For a manufacturer to void a warranty, they must prove that the specific modifications or repairs done by the consumer or third party caused the damage or defect. Should you have any further questions or requests in the future, please don't hesitate to ask me. cheers🍻

Can you give me a picture where you can possibly circle each pad and mention the size pls? I want to strictly put the color pink, and make it fixed to the factory dimensions. I went to deep clean the heatsink but i couldn't tell if the black spots are burns or just b) black coating... Like in 10:36 you will see black spot in the right fan bottom grille but in the left fan there isn't, also left and right, so what are these?
@uFixTek
@uFixTek 4 ай бұрын
🫠Regarding your question, that is heatsink paint, not a burn mark. They just painted more on one side and less on the other. The reason for the paint on the heatsink is to prevent the copper color from showing and making it look ugly from the outside. No need to scrub it off or anything, just clean it with a toothbrush. Should you have any further questions or requests in the future, please don't hesitate to ask me. cheers🍻

Been looking for something like since a long time so thank you so so much for that. There's so much information on the web that it gets overwhelming so it was so reassuring someone doing it step by step. Also I had a question regarding screws. Few screws on mine ( like 2 on the ssd slot and one on the ram..maybe a few on the battery too ) just refuse to turn at all. The screwdriver keeps spinning and it's as if it doesn't get a grip. I've never messed with any of these screws so I don't really know what's going on and how I can open it up?. ;o

@uFixTek
@uFixTek 3 ай бұрын
Sure, I will make a short video on that. You can dust-proof it by buying kitchen hood filters and some double-sided tape, then taping them to the bottom of the laptop to filter the dust. However, it won't look good. If you get regular dust mesh, those don't work; you need a filter-type material.

Lenovo laptops have Honeywell PTM 7950. Putting thermal paste on the CPU will result in worse temperatures.
@uFixTek
@uFixTek Ай бұрын
Actually, it doesn’t. It results in better temperatures based on many tests and services we’ve conducted. The only notable aspect of the Honeywell paste is its longevity, lasting 2-3 years. However, the Thermal Grizzly Extreme delivers significantly better results. I service these laptops regularly and have been doing so for more than 20 years. We conduct stress tests to measure the differences. You can use Honeywell if you find a reliable source, but I would recommend Thermal Grizzly for better performance. Even though it doesn’t last as long as Honeywell, I’d rather open the laptop once every year or year and a half to clean and reapply the paste. cheers🍻
