This is the s10 with the T5 transmission, nobody has a write up for it so I attempted it today without one
T5 came in this body style 1994-1995 with the 2.2 engine
Not to be confused with the Nv1500 or NV3500 on the 4.3L
Tools needed
3/8 Extension(s)
3/8 ratchet
13mm deep socket
Flat head
Simple
1. Unbolt slave cylinder from transmission (2 13mm nuts)
2. Take piston off clutch pedal by popping clip off
3. Take clutch master cylinder off with 2 13mm nuts
4. fish slave cylinder out from the top
5. Install new unit

Yea I asked a friend as well he sent me a forum that says when you press the clutch it'll break on its own.

I have a 1992 S-14 4x4. This looks like that kit would work for either a 4x4 or 2 wheel drive....I have both trucks. Just need my 4x4 functional for the winter and there's not a mechanic her that wants to tackle it. I will show this video to another mechanic I've found to see if he would be willing to do this. Both the 2 wheel drive and the 4x4 have the same 6 cyclinder motor.

how do you get the master cylinder connecting rod off the clutch pedal?
@mrmike4757
@mrmike4757 2 жыл бұрын
You do not have to unbolt the master cylinder from firewall. Twist lock turn clockwise 45 and it slides out

Should the push rod be kinda firm in place or move freely around and what not. I was trying to bleed my clutch couldnt get to the bleeder screw so I removed the master. Bleeder screw is striped cant be moved. Let it sit for a while hoping having it down would allow it to gravity bleed. Tried to out it back in and can't compress the push rod enough to thread the nuts to mount the master cylinder.

Do you have the t5 transmission, slave cylinder looks like the one in the video, or do you have the nv1500? When I installed this one it was loose, only because the push rod was all the way compressed with a plastic tie on the slave side, the master cylinder pushrod wiggles around a bit but shouldn’t be easy to push in by hand

@@reckdcustoms4021 I'm not sure about the transmission. I have 91 sonoma 5 speed. The slave cylinder looks the same except mine has no plastic retaining clips. I pushed the clutch peddle in while the slave cylinder was just dangling there according to my Haines manual that's a no no. So I'm just going to buy a new one. But ya the push rod was basically independent from the cylinder, only thing holding it in was the rubber dust cover.

The parts are a little pricey in my opinion, but if you know how to remove bolts and stuff they aren’t too hard to do, I think you have the t5 and it’s hydraulic, the other t5s were cable clutches, so you might have gotten lucky

i am having a horrible time finding the parts i need to do my manual swap in my 96 your video is the only one that i have found that has a 2 bolt flange on the master cylinder! but it looks like the new one didnt have it and you showed the old one in the bed of the truck it was still on the old one did the new one come with it?? please respond i am killing myself trying to find that flange! all the new ones including my 99 s10 have a twist lock master but not my 96

@reckdcustoms4021 3 жыл бұрын
That’s right the new one didn’t, the flange twists off the old one, it’s a separate part I didn’t include in the video, I’ll see if I can find it online and drop a link, same body style as mine and same t5 transmission I believe, so the masters should be the same

@@reckdcustoms4021 I tried I could only find one guy to message back and he insisted that this style of master mount was not in a s10 lol even if I do find someone that knows it idk if they will have a part number I'm a machinist I can just make one if I had an original to copy do you recall if that large center hole where the master locks into was square like the newer ones you see?
@reckdcustoms4021
@reckdcustoms4021 3 жыл бұрын
I believe it’s a rounded square, had lips in the corner to hold the master in, was only a couple inches, I’d get a chunk of metal and put a hole in it with some studs/ holes if this one wasn’t on my s10 to begin with, I’ll snap a pic of it tomorrow in the engine bay and post it, I’ll let you know if anybody says anything

You should still bleed the slave. There is 100% air in the line now.
@daddyhobo2

No never bleed the prebled assembly. They are extremely finicky and could ruin your whole day. And no it definitely won't have air in the system it's a completely sealed unit.
