My 1981 MR50 was standing for years I want to drive it again I found that it's compression is lw 60psi so I need to do this too. How much did this cost you? I need a 2 oversized piston kit. It doesnt want to start. It have good spark and a new carb. I'm scare to take off the cylinder head to see what piston it takes. I will need the cheapest one that would work. Oem will be too expensive

Eeyy help me!! In 6:20 you have the piston on the rod! And at 6:50 somewher there you put it out again and u say smthng for the piston rigns explain this to me i must put first the piston rings in the cylinder or no
@THECOOLGUYBOB5 жыл бұрын
Just put the rings on fist, then install one gudgeon pin clip and slide the gudgeon pin through the con rod and piston. You can then Install the second gudgeon clip as seen at 6:50

@@THECOOLGUYBOB oh so first i aplly pressure to piston rigns and then putting them on piston?

@@THECOOLGUYBOB oooand something else the piston has 2 pin clips?? One from the right side and one on the left side right!?
@THECOOLGUYBOB5 жыл бұрын
Place the first ring on top of the piston. Gradually push it down until it reaches the second groove ( if it has two rings) then repeat for the next ring but put in the groove closest to the top of the piston Yes there are two retaining clips beside the piston that you need to put on after is is installed on the rod and gudgeon pin. You may then squeeze the rings tight to the piston so that it sides in the cylinder much easier. Note 4 hands help this operation. If you are unsure about any of this that I have explained I would recommend looking at a different video as I wouldn't want you to mess it up. Hope this helps

You said soaking the piston and cylinder in 2 stroke. What do you man by that
@THECOOLGUYBOB5 жыл бұрын
As in making sure to lubricate the parts before reassembly to help prevent any scoring on the inside of the cylinder bore. So just wipe the piston and rings in 2 stroke oil before putting in the barrel.

Nice video! Did you ever fix that problem of power loss when warm? Got the same problem.
@THECOOLGUYBOB5 жыл бұрын
Not really, I think the transmission is sticking BC the rollers don't have enough weight to change down to a lower gear ratio. I can temporarily fix it by fitting a strong contraspring however it looses its torque and the same problem occurs again after a month

what precautions should I take when riding after a new installation ? should I ride with low rpm and avoid uphill rides ? should I let the bike work for 15/20 mins for the parts to adjust or ?
@watermelonwatermelon6513 Жыл бұрын
start it, let it idle, 15 min later shut off, let it cool, do it again 2 times, let cool, take for a spin, avoid high rpm and 2 rides later it should be good to rip
